Is the Coug salvageable?

I hope it's something non-trivial, so it can just be fixed and you can be on your way.... any updates?

ok, just got back from a day or terror.

Went to the dealership at 12:30 before they called and the car is done they say. Ok cool, now show me what was messed up. Turns out to be 2 fuses...one in the fuse box in the engine compartment labeled ignition (remember, I checked this before I had the car towed and it was fine) The other being some fuse mounted under the engine near the firewall (didn't get to see this one) he said that one was blown and loose. So I pointed out the first one wasn't blown when I brought it in, he admitted that he blew it after replacing the lower one. So he changes them both and says I'm good to go. When asked what caused it he says "something aftermarket" This pisses me off instantly but I keep calm. After 10minutes I say fine whatever and pay my bill b\c easy care doesn't cover "aftermarket" caused issues. (i'll be talking to the service manager and easy care after CF)

So I leave and hop on the highway to go home, no more then 4 miles up the road and bam.....same friggin thing. I check the top fuse for the ignition and it's blown AGAIN! So I have my gf's parents come get me b\c they are the only ones around. I call the ford tech who worked on my car and he says to use a 30amp fuse instead of the 20 thats in there....I ask about a melt down and possible resulting fire and he assures me that I'd be fine. I ask to speak with his "team supervisor" he reaffirms i'd be ok. So fine I'll get a 30amp fuse. 3 stores later I'm fuseless....NOONE has them in. Finally I go back to the dealer, give them the stock blown one and ask for a 30amp fuse. He gives it to me and I leave again. After 2 hrs I'm back at my car and it starts right up again. 10 miles later I'm home and everything seems fine. I recheck all the wires and no melting....

stopped at autozone on the way to work and picked up 1 20amp fuse and 3 30amp fuses. Once I can trace every wire coming off those fuses and verify nothing is on it I'm gonna try a 20amp fuse again.

Loose/burned/melted wiring coming off the alternator and starter - I can guarantee that this is most likely the problem. The fuse on the firewall is a ***** to get to... at least on my 01, it required quite a bit of work to get to it (and when they finally did, it wasn't the problem)
