i was cruisin in the left lane of the interstate goin about 80-85mph when a fiero gt and some lil honda ricer pull on. i slowly passed the fiero then he took off. i downshifted with pedal to the floor and stayed close to his quarter, then he must've gunned it cuz he just went flyin. we were at about 115 when i decided that i like my license so i dropped. one thing that struck me as odd tho, he had a ram-air hood....does luggage need to be cooled?

 I love Fieros. A friend of mine has an '87 GT. There is a lot of potential for mods with these cars and they can be found dirt cheap.

I swear Fiero's are lame. My friend had a gt model and I stomped it with my 2.0 Probe, oh yeah. My probe was an automatic, he had a manual. I have no respect for those things at all.

hah, thats an understatement

concidering that you can fool people into thinking you ACTUALLY have a lotus, lamborghini or ferrari f40 for less than the price of a new set of rims & tires

Some guy back where my parents live is a Fiero enthusiast. He swaps small-block Chevy V8's into them. Makes them screaming, tire-burning monsters. It's cool to hear that roar coming from those tiny cars...

well lots of people swap them in. but they only came with 2 engines from the factory. 2.5L I-4 with 115HP(max some were like 98HP)

and the GTs had a 2.8L with 130hp 160lb-ft. . there arent much mods for the V6 , but the 2.5L is known for sprint car racing. and can be made up to about 300HP.

i think more engines have been swaped into fieros than any other car.

Common swaps
2.3L Quad4 HOs 180HP 160lb-ft
3.8 S/C 240HP 280lb-ft
5.7L LT-1 (93-97 fbodies) 275-285HP 350lb-ft.
3.4L DOHC V6 215HP 200lb-ft (rare engine for GMs only came in lumina Z34s,and a few oldsmobiles)

the best all round swap is the Quad4. because its actualy lighter than even the stock 2.5L. and makes its so they can still handle will (tons of after market suspesion for them.)

another swap option that I've seen on the net a few times is the Northstar Motor (cadillac) V8.

here's a link to a gallery on one of the company's sites...

and... more pictures... of different swaps...

ok ok ... one more...

I forgot where I read it but someone used the frame from the Fiero to make a diablo Roadster with a LS1 5.7L V8 (350)

Car barely weighed in at 2500lbs but the tweaked LS1 dished out 380rwhp and 413rwtq.

Wished I could remember the website that I got that from  I considered the car cool but a death trap. You wreck the thing and yer dead. And I still have issues with the 413lbs of torque. I would think it would have snaped the frame or so.

Here's an interesting link my friend showed me. He owns an '87 GT and is really into these cars.
