Yep, I'm retiring the Cougar from Solo2 competition....although I never raced it once this year (just last year quite a few times).

I'm buying a 1986 Honda Civic/CRX Si hatchback MTX for $400 from my freind's Dad. Runs fanatastic, not too much rust at all, and the Honda aftermarket is just too huge! I've already got fresh Falken Azenis and a KKM intake from my Cougar to transfer onto the new mini-ride. It should be A LOT CHEAPER to build up, plus it's a fraction of the size of the Cougar. Lastly, I won't feel bad beating on it. I would often get teared-up when I'd make the Cougar screeeeeeam at 5500-6000 rpms. It'll allow me to garage the Cougar for winter as well!

In the future, I'm hoping to liven the engine up and get 'er road-course ready to have some fun on a real track. Someday!

In the end, the Cougar will likely get traded in for a 2004/2005 F-150 next year.

Well, the deal never went through.

I brought the car into work to put it on the lift and check the undercarriage, and OH MY GOD! It's amazing the car just didn't implode and skid into a ditch when I was driving it. It'd take a weekend of Monster Garage welding to stiffen 'er up and make her track-worthy. custom_images/emoticons/shocked.gif There aren't enough strut bars in the world to stiffen that body roll without some serious welding. I'd say the body was only about 70% attached to the car. The rear cross-member of the frame above the suspension was rusted right through the middle. I could literally see both floormats from beneather the vehicle. :puke:

With the powerplant AND frame AND body AND suspension in need of some attention, even for $400 it seems likely to be am endless money pit.

Judge Judy's decision? NO DEAL
