Yesterday my car decides to start acting up... the battery light randomly comes on and off and the gagues top out while im going down the road... luckly the car was running fine. So I take it to the ford place... and tell them to be careful when they put it on the lift because i have a neon underbody kit. Well this morning i get a call and it is Dick, the service manager. He asks where i got the lights... i told him i got them off the internet and asked why?... he informs me that his "Tech" read the note but didnt look and busted the drivers side light, when he put it on the lift. Well Dick being the genius that he is thought i only had lights on that side. So he asked if i could find him another tube and ford would pay for it and they would put it on for me. Well luckily someone else with a purple kit busted a light and Radio Active was breaking up a kit for her and they would give me a 51" tube. So now im excited because i thought everything was going to be okay and i could get it done today. YEAH RIGHT!!! Well I call Dick to tell him i found the tube and i would be by later... then he tells me that i need to find another one because the checked the passengers side and it was busted too.... MARVELOUS!!!! So noone in Birmingham would sell me two bulbs out of the kit... which i dont blame them. So after and hour and a half on the phone i finally got Planet Audio to get me a new kit from their warehouse. I've yet to pick it up and Dick wasnt happy about buying a whole kit... but he needs to teach his "Techs" how to read... then he wouldnt have this problem. Has anyone had problems with Ford or Mercury shops.... or is it just the one here?

Ah dang...I hate to hear that. But at least the damage was fixable. I have a friend that works at the local Volkswagan / Audi dealership and he came home the other night with a story that I couldn't believe. A customer brought their new Golf convertable in to get an oil change and have a bra installed. In the process, one of the clean up guys came through with an old Blazer that had been purchased off the used car lot. He slammed into the side of this customer's Golf, wiping out the whole passanger side. Can you imagine how that person felt when they came to put up their car and it was totaled!?! Makes me want to NEVER take my car to a dealership

OMG!!! I would be owning a dealership if that happened to my car!!! I don't think the techs care... they do what they have to do then jump right to the next car... i sat for 4 hours the other day and watched them they just pull out and dont even look. I wonder how many times that happens a week? What did the dealership do?

I believe they are going to make the employee pay the deductable, which is quite a bit of money the way I understand it. I don't believe its the first time it has happened, and in my opinion, he should be fired.

Yeah i definitely agree. They just don't care. That is why i hate taking my car to the dealerships... it makes me a nervous wreck... i sit and watch it the whole time. When my warranty expires im gonna start taking it to this old guy who does an awesome job... he seems safe.

My Cougar has only been back to the dealership for one recall...nothing else. I wish I could find somewhere around here that could do work...but I do most of mine myself.
