My winter beater started giving me problems about three weeks ago on my way to 3-11 shift, which kept me up until 4am getting the Cougar roadworthy so I could get to work. It began leaking coolant rather profusely. It's been parked at the rear of my property since I got home from work that night. Anyway, with the crappy weather and the fact that OrangeCat's giving my Cougar a detail soon ;), I decided to try to get the beater back on the road. So I first checked the oil to check for a milkshake, and thankfully there was no sign of that. So next I filled up the radiator and started it up, and the engine sounded bound up near the belt and the water seemed to be leaking from there too, so I figured it was the water pump but wanted to check for sure, so I took it to the driveway. I parked it, popped the hood, propped it up, started it again. What happened next should have been on video. I'm standing on the passenger side looking down toward the water pump, and moved my hand too close to the hood prop---- :banghead: <-- that's pretty much what happened. My hand hit the hood prop, which dropped the hood on my head. The weight of the hood pushed my head down and it hit the fender, and when I started falling backward I sliced my hand in two places. :flushed:
