I am cleaning out this SVT UIM cause from the factory it came looking like this. The ports are not smooth at all.

I have finished some of this, and will be doing the rest tomorrow or thursday. I can't believe how poor of a job extrude hone did on this.

I am not porting the UIM, just smoothing the ports properly. I'll probably pull mine next and clean it up too.

It is a 99-00 SVT UIM. Tell me what you think.

Also, btw, if anyone wants me to do their UIM, i'll do new or used dirty ones. I'll do it for cheap...it takes me a few days to do it all.

Yeah this was a SVT UIM manifold that was bought from ford parts on line a few months ago.
Jeremy was kind enough to clean up the manifold an polish up the ports, now they are all nice and shiney, looks soo much better!!
I owe you for the cleaning     thanks again!!

5 ports are now done...and I cleaned the IAt and EGR ports...they were very weird...just cleaned them a tad.

I will finish it by friday...

I can't believe how porrly made these last fe SVT UIM's are...The TB opening is very very smooth, but the ports are not...

I cant remember when I heard this, but I believe Terry Haines says the roughness is actually good as a perfectly smooth surface doesnt move as much as a slightly dimpled surface. Something about "think about why there are dimples on golf balls". The dimples cause mini high/low areas of pressure and actually speed up the air even further and creates a good mixture in the cylinders before boom.

I think thats why they use extrude honing for this type of work, it enlarges the ports and runners, but doesnt get them glassy smooth, which is the best of both worlds.

Im probably mixing a few posts together and mis quoting, but this is what I recall from past discussions about UIMs and Terry Haines over on CEG way back when.

Looks good though!
