Has anyone tried this yet? My brother was a nuke in the navy and he wanted to try something like this in my cougar. Just wondering if this might be one of the firsts. If so let me know how it went.

Thanks guys and girls!

somebody on here has it I think, just can't remember who. It's not that hard to do either.

you mean like what that "Transporter" dude had in the movie... with his BMW?

that would be pretty sweet.... just dont forget the code! :cover:

A Mass/Conn member has it in his.

I dunno if they've improved on the kits, but this one was sorta iffy...you had to hide the transmitter in your key somewhere in the dash so the car would start up properly.

easy. youll need to get a 555u from a curcuit city or a best buy to bypass pats when using the keypad/ start button. then hook it up so that when your keypad powers ignition, the 555u gets powered up as well. youll still need to take the lock out of the wheel if you dont want to use a key at all. if you just want to get a pushbutton start youll just need to reroute the start wire going to the key cylinder. boom done.

temujin has a remote start installed and he didn't have to leave a key in the car.

most remote start systems dont require you to leave the key in, at least on my system you can start the car up but you can not drive off without the key (for safety), if you tap the brakes the engine cuts off.

where could i purchase a keypad , and ignition button system?

It would be sweet to play "transporter" on those daily drives to the grocery store

They either used a PATS bypass or removed the chip from his key & hid it in the dash somewhere (the cheap way out). Easy way is to check to see if his keys look like they were tampered with. We all have a little door on them and if you stick a tiny screwdriver in you can remove your chip.

Downside to this is that someone w/another key can probably start your car (provided they remove the chip from theirs). Now I remember a while back hearing that since Ford uses this PATS system they only cut so many variations of keys & that 1 out of 10 or so Cougars will have the same key cut. It just can't start the car.

I was talking to a guy who has setup a system similar to what you are looking for. Check it out.

Yeah, follow that link.....
It actually seems like a pretty good deal.

I just don't want to pay cause I figure it wouldn't be too hard to make myself....
If you get one, lemme know how it works out..

I am still considering it but trying to consider the downside... like any warranties that go void because of that tampering. Any Ideas?

I don't know which setup you're going for but I have a remote start and my car is a MTX. If you leave it in 1st and lock the wheel it will drive in a circle, pretty sweet.

wouldnt it stall out if you left it in first? or does it give it a little bit of gas?

I really don't know how it does it but when I first got it my cougar almost ran over me!
