everything's kind of up in the air with this.
Stephen Leak at Senator Fitzgeralds office got us paperwork for what is considered a "Humanitarian Parole".
That would be where all our rights are basically removed from us, we are never allowed back in the United States and we go back for a given time period to pack up and move on.
this is not an option beucase we are not criminals and have never commited a crime.
now, with the paperwork there was a letter from a Timothy W. Hawdh(sp, sorry guys not sure, we don't have the letter at the moment, ti's being mailed to us asap) who works within ranks for the new Homeland Security system. Which is apparently also apart of the U.S. Department of Justice. As we coudl understand, Mr. Hawdh said that he didn't want to leave us with the option of Hum. Parole but he was sending the papers anyway. He also warns us of the consequences of following up on the Hum. Parole.
Now here's our next step.
Our contact, Patty Kourakis(my mom's friend back home), she is going to get a personal meeting set up with Peter Fitzgerald himself to see where we can go with all this. Me and my mom will be putting together a letter to Mr. Hawdh. He is in D.C. and from the looks of his letter, is willing to help us at least.
But there seems to be a much better chance at allt his now becuase the Homeland Security is set up and ready to go, my understanding is that INS is no longer in existed and the Homeland Security has taken over, but I cannot be positive.
I will be writing to my dad's old friend Richard and his contact for us way back in Sept. last year Congressman Bill Young as well tonight, to see how they may be able to guide us around.
best i can do for an update for now, once i get the letter in the door and i can read it, i might be able to get into much more detail.
2nd Update
ok we got hte letter.
basically the Senator asked the Attorney General for Humanitarian Parole, that's rediculous.
This offer has stood since we got back from the embassy in early Aug. last year. If we were to go for this Parole my mom alone would be able to go back and get all our stuff, already unnaceptable. But that's far from teh beginning, it would also disable us the right to return the U.S forever! that's not cool, as of now, we cannot just get intot he country but via a visa we can return at a later date. This could be a long time though, so we're still fighting though, we are writing back to the guy at the Homeland Security today and I did write to Bill last night.
Thanks for listening
