On a serious note, I propose we change the official radio channel for IL NECO please. We have been using channel 4-20 :smoke-g: for two years now, and it isn't exactly a number we should be affiliated with.

HISTORY ON WHY WE USE THAT CHANNEL: During Cougarfest 2001, on the way back from Detroit we were forced to follow the speed limit because we were warned by a stopped trucker that the police lines were buzzing about groups of cougars racing through the state terrorizing other motorists. After we got into Indiana and stopped for food, a group of us decided to make a break for home at a faster pace. So myself, Pikachu, WickedLimits, Amber, and Al were the group, and to not confuse our communications with the other group Pika told us all to go to channel 4-20. At the time I didn't know what it meant... :smoke-g: but it makes sense now why Jay would choose that channel... :) So anyway, somehow that channel stuck because it was what I had on my radio, and just told everyone else that's what channel I was on.

So... Heather would you please change the official radio channel to something else please? Like maybe 12-16 (IL NECO anniversary date), or 1-2, or anything? Thanks.

Gateway tends to use 3-23 if you want to try that one. It's nothing bad, just Cru's room number from Cougarfest last year.

OK I am clueless, what's 4-20 stand for?

From what I am told... apparently its pot day or something... all the pot heads smoke up at 4:20 pm on April 20th. I don't know why...

Anyway... this thread has gone horribly off topic, and its all my fault. :)

:stupid: joking hun...but considering Reagan didn't exactly explain what 4-20 to ya so i dont i blame ya. :)

"4-20" is like "10-4" and "roger!"..."4-20" is the code used by police for mary-jane:smoke-g: and/or perhaps all drugs. another term u'd should know is "10-50'ed" meaning car-crash(over the radio: "we got ourselves a "10-50" lol)

teens and young adults also tend to toke up crazy style on april 20th...4-20:) its national Get High Day yippie!!! lol

Agreed...the 4.20 thing is totally overplayed, and not what we're about...

Gateway always uses 3.23 now like Tom said, but I don't have a problem with any number :)

How about 3.28? That's my Cougar's birthday! :)

EDIT: Here's the lowdown on the highway we'll be taking to get to CougarFest (since I just got done driving 2/3 of the way there this past week ;):
Illinois: minimal construction on 64, speed limit 65...roads are decent until you get to the far eastern part of the state on 64.
Indiana: tons of construction (over 25 miles at a time) in the western part of the state, 50 in the construction areas, 65 everywhere else...relatively smooth sailing about 50 miles after Mary's house in Evansville.
Kentucky: Sucks. 65 mph limit, cops everywhere, crappiest roads I've ever seen, construction scattered throughout...an all around bad time will be had by all.
West Virginia: makes all the Kentucky trouble worthwhile. 70mph limit, never saw a cop on the whole way home, and the construction zones are small, and labeled so that if they aren't working, you can zoom right through. roads are like driving on glass. Only one downfall...and that's the tolls...it's $1.25 every time you hit a tollbooth, and there were 3 on my way to Radford...I'm assuming at least 3, possibly 4 on the way to Norfolk.
Virginia: I'm not sure about, since we'll be driving in the eastern part of the state and I was in the western part...but it's basically the same as WV, with no tolls and 65mph limit. More cops though, and better hiding places...

I don't know if you guys are gonna be travelin' I-64 but there aren't any tolls on that interstate as far as i know....i just took that trip to Chesapeake a few weekends ago and there weren't any but i did bypass Richmond on I-295 and i don't believe you have to take that bypass to head on down to Norfolk...at least the route i'm takin' doesn' t have me leavin' I-64 anyways. but i know Richmond has a few tolls through it...but there shouldn't be any as long as you're on I-64...but not positive because i've always taken I-295 around...

but yeah...as kyle was sayin'...watch for cops, they're everywhere! VA cops really aren't any ones you want to deal with...they love their hidin' places.

I was talking about the tolls on I-64 in WV, since that was as far as I made it on that highway...and yes, they're definitely there. ;)

We'll be on I-64 the whole way!! From the beginning of it in STL to the end of it in VB! Crazy!

I will bring my brother's radar detector. I don't think it will detect every cop, but it did help on the way home from Mod Fest in May.

THe official change Radio channel (which, REAGAN, I think is ANAL RETENTIVE) is 7.19. :)

Just make sure that radar detector is stashed in your trunk before crossing into VA... I hear they are really strict on those.

Heather,

Better put on your list to bring change for all those toll booths! That sucks. I am just glad they don't have those up around here.

The funny thing about the tolls in WV is that they're a pretty good distance apart, and you pay $1.25 every time...BUT, every one is manned by an actual human employee...no baskets to throw change into :( That's always the fun part, I think!

It's not like Chicago where you pay 50 cents every 60 yards and every on ramp and off ramp, and not like Ohio where you take a ticket and then you owe them $14.75 when you finally leave the state... :banghead:

Plus, like I said, you get to fly through that state on perfect roads...so the tolls are worth it...I think the motto in West Virginia is "Come in, pay tolls, and get the hell out of our state!"
