I've followed up on all the recommended super charger shops and can't find a bolt on kit for my 2001 cougar. I called Vortec and they told me their bolt on for the 2000 would not work on the 2001. I don't have the know how to customize one myself so am I SOL???

There are several how-tos on the workaround for the Vortec. Search for the info, and if you can't find anything, Kinger has been a huge help to me.

No. I still need a car with returnless to set up the fuel system on. I also need to do some last fitting of the supercharger and get the belt length.

how much $$ would the first returnless car have to pay to get the system?

Im gonna be buying the Vortech kit in a few months... and am curious to see if it was possible to get a custom intercooler for it? How did you mount your intercooler?

The procharger system mounts on the front of the engine. The intake tubing moves to the front through the intercooler and then around to the TB. I can make you a front mount. I can also see about getting you a good deal on the vortec kit if you'd like. Although, I don't recomend it because of the design flaws.

from the people on these boards i would say that that is an understatemtn.....didnt the re-designed shafts still break???

There is nothing to 'break' on the vortech. The upgraded shaft was treated to a better heat treating process to harden it, now it matches the hardness of the input spline on the SC and no problems are present assumed its installed right. By installed right I mean maknig sure the shaft is perfectly horizontal by measuring and re-measuring to make sure the brackets are centered. I have over 6K on my set-up and no signs of anything a miss. Even with this there is still a upgrade available from a CEG member where it adds a bearing assembly to where the shaft slides over the drive spline of the SC, this allows for he unit to be installed in a 'less picky' manner and should prove to be very reliable.

Jag-I was installing my oil cooler this weekend and I noticed how LITTLE room there is to route a 2.5" pipe to a front mount IC and back up to the TB. Have you test fitted a car yet? I'll be curious to see how you get it to fit.

Thanks kinger for reassuring me that my 3K wont be wasted. I have read about the failing of the drive spline and how Vortech "fixed" the issue. But I do agree about the intercooler install. There is very little room under the hood and am still questionable about actually being able to fit extra piping under there for and intercooler, well for it to be efficient. I'm sure you could, but how much piping would you need? The more piping the less efficient right?
