Here it is guys!!! This was a total pain in the ass!!! This mod is not for the weak of heart!!! It took me two evenings and about 50 reinforced cutting wheels, 45 cutting wheels, a tungsten carbide cutter and various other cutters that were with the Dremel. I bought a new digital Dremel on Ebay for $50 and it worked great!!! I highly recommend harty24 as a seller on Ebay. I also included a pic of my new KY plate...kinda looks like a Cougar..... If anybody has an 01-02 grill...LET ME KNOW!!!

Ahhh damn it... dont tell me it was a pain in the ass to do, cuz imma be doing this to my car pretty soon... hey if anyone wants to trade new headlights for the ones off my 99 hit me up.

Yes Se7en its a pain. Buy lots of reinforced cutting wheels...start about 9 am on Sat. and you may have it done by 8 pm....no kidding.

I don't know why mercury didn't just use those lights in the first place, they look 100% better :)

I was talking to the guy in the cougar support group and he said it was not in the budget.. I am sure they planned to use those lights first but couldn't make a way for them to last through the heat. Look at the cougar s concept. Look familiar?

the how to is on MC-NECO or just go to the how-to forum and punch in headlights. If anybody decides to do this.....its a biatch...but worth it I think. I also have an extra passenger 02 headlight if anybody needs it.

looks good... not my flava but then again i am one of the limited number of 99 headlight fans that are still around.. or atleast a modded version of the 99's

heard that, i love my 99-00 headlights, to me the 01-02 headlights dont look all that good painted.

Personally, I think the 99-00 Head lamps are the best. Their black, 3D, and Projection type lighting. The 01-02 head lamps just look like a knock off version of the Dodge Intrepid.
I was talking to the guy in the cougar support group and he said it was not in the budget.. I am sure they planned to use those lights first but couldn't make a way for them to last through the heat. Look at the cougar s concept. Look familiar?
I think, If I am correct, the Cougar S came out after the 1999 Cougar did. Therefor, the headlamp redesign in 01, can't really be link to funding problems. Besides, don't you think it would cost more to make projection lamps instead of the regular, basic lamps you see today on 99.9% of cars (example the Escort).
Sorry to hijack this thread, Good jobs with the mod dude, made props, now all you need is the grill, rims, front bumper, rear bumperand new interior and no one will be able to tell the difference between your 99 and an actual 01........one mod down 100 more to go!

HMMMM...don't see that happening. Grill would be ok. Just the wifes car and she liked the 02's better and I got them dirt cheap...just didn't think it would be such a pain in the A$$$$$$!
