I am looking for a cougar. I want a V6 5 speed, but all i can find aroudn where i live is automatics. I did find one or two 5 speeds that i am going to look at tomorrow. BUt i was talking to a guy today about cougars and he was trying to sell me this cougar that was an Automatic saying that in the V^ the 5 speed doesnt do anyhting for you. He then said that i could buy a manual trans. and get it installed, or install my self. Well i am just wondering what i choudl be looking for in a Cougar. Like if i was going to rae shoudl i be getting the I4 or the v6 i know that v6 give you more HP but the i4 is lighter. I sort of get it but i dont cause i ghouth the bigger the engin the faster your car can go. Well i am just wanting some advice on what i should be looking for you can write back on this or email me at brg2003@msn.com. Like i said at the begining my heart is sort of set on a v6 5 speed.

If you intend on staying stock, the V6 MTX is the way to go. From what I understand, the I4 has way more potential for modifying it for performance than the V6 has, simply based on the fact that the I4 is the same engine in the ZX2 and Focus (there's more cars with that engine with more people wanting to modify them so more companies willing to produce products for them). Also from what I understand, the ATX kinda sucks, performance-wise. As for swapping out the transmission, yeah, you could do that, but it'd be better financially to start with the MTX, and a MTX-equipped Cougar is generally cheaper than an ATX one, given the same options

And welcome to the boards.
