today i finally got to start on my fiberglassing for my sub boxes. im putting one in each space behind the wheel wells. took me a long time (3 hours), cuz i was trying a method that i've only heard of, not even specifically told about. i dipped the mat in the resin instead of stabbing since this is much faster and you almost dont have to worry about air bubbles. i first started dipping into too deep of resin and wasted a lot, so i started dipping it in shallower resin kind of like you would with a paint roller. i went through a lot of latex gloves too with this since its very hands on and you barely even need a brush. once i got the method perfected, i covered a 6" by 2' area in about 2 minutes! so it should go very quickly for the next 7 layers. but here are the pics from today and i will hopefully be adding more layers this weekend.

Looking good! But im wondering what is that sub box in pic 1099? looks like you have built some special fitment enclosures, what vehicle did that one go in? The ports look interesting-

ahh, wasted time in woods class. thats what the subs are in now, stuck up against the seats. there is absolutely no room in the trunk with that damn thing. and the ports are pvc pipe that had to be angle cuz they were too long, and the angle caused them to rattle against the inside (hence the rags). sounds decent now, but i like the sound of sealed better. much tighter.
oh, and the whole reason for that pic is to show the extra interior pieces off the parts car, so thats why i didnt foil off the area, cuz if i f*** up, i can just put new pieces in.

Sounds like your using way too much resin. Remember - it's the cloth that gives the fiberglass strength, not resin.

i was using way too much, but then got the method down. dipping it is sooo much easier than stabbing and takes much less time and arm strain.
