I'll start off with my favorite picture of my car ever, taken over a year ago.... I post it everytime I post a pic of my car, and is one of my favorite cougar pictures of all time too...
http://www.fastcougar.com/forums/attachments/spades-inair.jpg
Then comes the ironic part...
http://www.fastcougar.com/forums/attachments/StuckInTurnLane.jpg
http://www.fastcougar.com/forums/attachments/StuckInTurnLane2.jpg
http://www.fastcougar.com/forums/attachments/stupidMaxima.jpg

http://www.fastcougar.com/forums/attachments/FookedUpShockTower.jpg
I was coming home from my friends house at 1AM, and slowed for a red light, which turned green as I got to it, so I accelerated across the street... and someone decided they didn't want to stop at THEIR red light, and broadsided me, probably going 45mph or so... then tried to tell the police that I was the one that ran the red light :disgust:
The Ironic part is that that first picture I posted shows only the parts of the car that were really damaged by this accident, but was taken over a year prior... weird isn't it

Dev, that sucks man, damn nissan drivers think they own the road - (I was once hit my a maxima too ).... and while we're on the subject, glad to hear you're okay, but I also hope the car isn't totalled.... and If by chance it is... let us all know so we can pilfer parts and own a part of the once great vehicle....
P.S. Rims, and some other verious parts would look great on my car.... - I know I have no decency or shame....
DEVIOUSDEV
06-20-2003, 01:01 AM
No decency whatsoever ;) Seriously though, 3 of the wheels are in perfect condition, the only one of them that had been curbed, is the one that is currently destroyed, and all 4 tires are fine as well, because I didn't skid at all either... but I'll either be keeping them on this car if it is repaired, or putting them on the cougar I get to replace this one;)
And I really do hope that there is not frame damage... because I honestly planned on keeping this car for the rest of my life, and I don't want it to start falling apart in a few years because they thought their work only had to be good for another couple of years...

OH yeah, and I'm fine, my back, shoulder and neck are a little sore, but I'm already going to the chiropractor about it....
My one consolation about the whole incident was that the other guy's maxima was completely and utterly totalled

damn that does suck!
So when the guy tried to Blame it on you did you ***** slap him back into line? what did the cop say?

06-20-2003, 02:13 AM
DAMN dude that sucks...but it's good to know you didn't take any damage
Did you have you seatbelt on?
That guy is a dic for trying to blame it on you. I mean damn look what

I didn't find out he told the cops that I ran it until the cops finished the report... they talked to him first, but didn't tell me what he said, it wasn't until my dad and I were asking the cop what happens next that she said:
"with no witnesses, and two conflicting stories.." And we were like "WAAAAAIT a second here, what are you talking about?"
... but she wouldn't tell us exactly what he said, and I haven't gotten a copy of the report yet, but she made it pretty clear that he said that I ran the red, although I acknowledged that my light HAD been red, but changed to green before I came to a stop, so I of course started to go across the street
Basically it was the word of a "Fast and the Furious punk kid" against that of a "black man" in a city over-run by upper-middle class white people, so the cops really didn't give a damn :disgust:
And yes I was wearing my seatbelt, but I got thrown around enough still that my back shoulder and neck are fairly sore :disgust:

OMG dude...that f'ing sucks :(
well...welcome to the 'I'm not going to Vegas' club...hopefully you'll find something equally enjoyable to spend your time doing...(i.e. physical therapy with an obscenely hot chick  )
btw...from a cop's POV, I think your story is more believable b/c people are alot more likely to run a red light immediately after it turns red (the other jackass) than they are immediately before it turns green (supposedly http://www.mdneco.com/smile/greddy.gif you)
edit: more irony...this is what I was looking at (http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/vdetail.jtmpl?car_id=133774002&dealer_id=&car_year=2002&make=NISSAN&distance=50&max_price=15000&model=MAX&advcd_on=n&end_year=2004&min_price=&certified=n&address=90045&search_type=used&advanced=n&start_year=2000&color=&cardist=49) before I went to neco and clicked on your thread

damn dude that sucks, hopefully all will be well and it will look the same as in your first pic. Hopefully you'll not be at fault either.

06-20-2003, 03:33 AM
Oh I'm still going to Vegas Vinnie... nothings gonna keep me away now ... I just have to win a new car while I'm there;)
And I won't be found at fault, as of right now the police report will say something to the effect of "one of the parties involved ran a red light" ... but favors neither one of us as more guilty than the next
gyger
06-20-2003, 03:26 PM
And yes I was wearing my seatbelt,
I wasn't implying anything just asking cause I never wear my seat belt.

Shouldn't they be able to tell you didn't run the red? Correct me if my thinking is wrong. If he was sitting at the intersection, his light turned green and then u ran your light the damage would be different. There would be more damage across the front of his bumper because your car would hit him and nearly rip his bumper off (same thing happened to me in Feb wasn't my fault at all). Unless he claims he was travelling and his light turned green (similar to your story) but even with that the damage on the cars should indicate who was at fault.
Also, were there any tire marks etc?

EDIT: did they impound your car? they took mine talking about i cant have it towed by my insurance even though i showed him my card and that i had coverage up to 100 miles. they were taking it instead. i got stuck with a $140 bill too :disgust:

The guy may have said that his light was just still green while he approached and as he went through, but then claimed Dev. just straight up ran it.

Sorry for the late response, just got home from Vegas...
Gyger, I didn't think you were implying anything, I was just answering your question:)
Caenus, there were no tire marks, except for the small one my rim made when it got turned sideways when he hit me...
Zalec, they didn't impound it, THEY actually called AAA for me to get the tow truck there ASAP...
And there should be some way for them to tell which one of us was lying, but I don't think the Irvine PD really gives a flying F*** because like I said before, it was a black man, and a "punk kid" in the accident, and we are at the low end of the "we care about your wellbeing"-spectrum in Irvine :disgust:

Well your not hurt and hopefully your insurance company will take care of the repairs and your rates don't go up. I see you have RIP in your sig....does that mean your car is totalled, or you are giving up or what?
DEVIOUSDEV
06-23-2003, 10:51 PM
I don't know yet if it is totalled or not... I haven't actually talked to anyone from the insurance company yet because I've been out of state since right after the accident.
The general consensus from friends/family that have looked at the car is that it should be totalled because it would probably cost more money to put it back together, than to buy a new one  But I should find out in a couple of days though...

Is it all body damage or is there anything hurt besides strut tower inside the engine bay? A friend got in to an accident, he has an older style eclipse or talon with turbo. Basically he pulled out and didn't see someone and the front of his car is messed up. However no engine damage or frame, just cosmetic. He checked the value of his car and the repairs are actually more expensive then he the car was worth. So it should be totalled, but perhaps they aren't going to total it cause its just cosmetic damage? Dunno, I found his scenario strange, and I have no personal experience with any cars being totalled.

When I first saw the first two pics I thought you were running for the cops in a chase and they finally caught you.
DEVIOUSDEV
06-24-2003, 04:32 PM
HAHA Deviously Ghetto Car Chases  .... Nope, not running, it took them forever to find us in the middle of the street there ;)
They won't know about the damage until wednesday at the earliest, so after that point, I should be able to tell you guys what the deal is, but there is a lot of structure right behind where he hit me, and I think thats the reason why his car disintegrated, and mine looks fixable still... although it might not be because the frame could be tweaked BECAUSE he hit the frame. There may be some engine damage, because it has been leaking something from the bottom of the engine over the past week, and it never was before
Actually I'm very lucky that he hit me right at that point between the door and fender, because if he had been just a few feet back, and hit the door, I think I would have been a whole lot worse off in this accident :(

Haha Had that Been me i would have Cried harder than at Cougarbash.. it was worse enough seeing the headlights hangin...
it looks like an awful lot if damage though.. i bet they'll total it.. umm if they do, can i have your headlights? lol
