Does anyone have any mods that they are planning on doin at Fest? If anyone needs any help, as some threads have mentioned, I think it would be cool if some of us help others that are affraid of modding their own stuff.... I thought maybe since its closer now, that most of us are pretty sure if we're goin or not, so why not make a list of whoever would be willing to help other people with modding.....I'd be happy to help anyone with anything I can...I'm pretty quick at popping open headlights (mainly worked on 99-00's) if anyone wants to paint them, or remove a reflector.....

Anyone else wanna helps your fellow NECO members?

I can do neons, and would LOVE to get my 01 headlights done, as in removing the orange reflector. If anyone wants these done PLEASE let me know, you must bring the neon kits, and I can install them in the parking lot. I can do UIMs too, and intakes etc. stuff like that, but I would like to see a list started personally, so we can list who and what is getting done. It worked great at Indy besides the weather stopped alot of mods from getting done.....

i want to get my headlights painted -- but
1) dont know where to get the paint from
2) dont know what tools im going to need to bring to have the work done

wouldnt mind having my shifter shortened - but im not about to bring a saw - its no biggie

Id be more than happy to help anyone do any fabric work to their interior - just bring good scissors and 3m spray :D

Loyalty
06-18-2003, 12:21 PM
JennaJ, I can cut your shifter.....I'll bring the dye to thread it too (I'll try to bring a little saw, and my Dremmel). What color do you wanna paint your lights?? If you do it silver you can basically just get any silver from anywhere. If you wanna do it the color of your car....I'd just ask around.

As far as the headlights go, you'll need 2 flat head screw drivers.... a small phillips head, and a razor blade.....

Hey Madcat, if I don't have my neons done by then, I'd like for ya to try....the only problem I have is jacking my car up, due to the sideskirts....

Madcat
06-18-2003, 04:20 PM
Just shoot me a PM later on, cuz my friend that is coming in his SCed Focuz has a jack for that and I have a way around everything too, my car has sideskirts and I can get under it no problem now. I ll try to remember to bring tools, please PM me closer to event.

Anyone experienced with installing screens? I think im picking up a screen or two before cougarfest and i was hoping someone would be able to help me. Now what i would really like to do with it is put where the stock cd player location is and then move my cd player down to where the ashtray/lighter are, and then i think i would just like to mount the other one on the dash in front of the airbag which doesnt really take much besides come velcro because i dont want to drill permanent holes in the top of my dash. Id really like someone who's done this before cause i dont want to have my console torn apart to have it not work. So if someone knows how then pm me and we can talk about a list of materials that i need to have it done.

loyalty - i actually was thinking of painting my headlights the same purple as my interior paint!!
i just got a 2nd SGG underbody neon kit installed on the car in purple - so i thought it would match better. but then i was thinking what if i ever take off the headlight covers that prolly wouldnt look too good???? either way id like to remove the orange reflector too.

so i dont know purple or silver???
i mean i literally dont know where do to go get the paint from so that it comes in a spray can???

jason - out of curiousity was does gutting your precats actually do for a car? and how hard is it to do?
ive heard people doing it, but never really knew its purpose

Madcat
06-19-2003, 03:16 AM
Jenna, gutting is like a cheaper way of headers, some people claim loss of power some claim gain, just depends how your car reacts.

carsnrockmusic
06-19-2003, 05:36 AM
yeah...it add some hp....you gut out the pre cats in each manifold which is some honeycomb lookin stuff.....when you take it out you get better airflow...it'll also make the exhaust slightly louder.....it's not hard to do at all....on your car you would need MIL eliminators though since you have the 99.....MIL eliminators are not needed on 01/02 models

sam...go silver :)

I have been wanting to paiont my dash for some time, but am just too chicken to do it. Anyone want to help with that, that has done it before? I have the paint, sandpaper, and tools to remove the dash. I would like to paint the handle that goes down the door and wraps up to the bevel around the lock and window buttons, but that doesnt come off the door panel. Anyone mask it off and paint it that would like to help with that as well?

Frost, I don't have any experience paintin the dash, but I can tell ya.....it's a PITA to get the handles painted....I spoke with a paint shop when we were doin mine...I told them how it was still tacky after about 3 or 4 days.....they told me that since its a rubber that you have to seal it first (I think thats what they called it). I ended up just gettin a new set of panels cause I ruined my old ones....

i'm in the same boat. i looked up in the manual how much trouble it was to take the dash apart. looks like an all day project - for me, anyway. but it could go alot faster if someone with experience was willing to help us get it apart and back together.

taking the dash apart is real simple. I just painted my dash and it took all of 10-15 min to take it apart. now the painting took a little more time. But all together it took about 2 days. You just have to be careful when putting the dash back together that soon because the paint hasn't cured yet and can be scratched real easy.

I can get any color paint put into spray cans if you need it

Approx. $10 per can, and he can do any color...just tell me the name of the color and how much you need...

I'll lend a hand on some mods, but I'd like to spend more time hanging out with everyone and having a good time (didn't get to do that much at HCKC cause we were doing so many mods and raffles and junk...)

I may not check this thread much, so if you need paint, PM or email me please ;)

Also, I would not recommend gutting cats or painting the dash while we're there...much too time consuming IMO...If you want, I can take your dash apart and send you home with the pieces...Just let me know about 10 minutes before you're ready to leave...getting it out is a breeze :)...but, as was mentioned before, the actual prepping and painting process takes much longer...

As far as spray paint....I'm not sure what "special" silver you would pay $10 a can for....the silver that Sunni used for mine (if I wouldn't have clearcoated them) is shinny as hell!!!! Its only an aluminum spray paint (it has a shinny silver top  ).....why not just pick some up at Discount Auto for like 3 or 4 bucks a can

yeah thats fine I can just go pick up some silver paint that way -- dont matter to me

i just didnt know if it was going to be as good a quality as others - id rather pay the extra $7 to have paint that is going to last and not peal off

what about the actual painting and clearcloating??
do I need to buy anything else or just bring the car, the paint, and silicone???

im really not trying to be a pain - id rather be overprepared then under!

No im sorry guys - i just really dont know a DAM!!! thing about doing any of this

chris - yes the list is perfect - now i know what to bring
just need to get the grit down from someone?? what like an 800???? i dont know

1 primer, 1 color, 1 clearcoat can?

as for the other thing............................................. ............ it has to do with my rear passengerside inside door panel.

when i reupholstered it - it was fine, but after sitting all winter and getting jerked around from being taken in and out of the car from the stereo install - the actual part of the panel that is tweeded pops out near the door jam. i took it out got some rubber cement and clamped it together for about 48 hours -- put it back in the car a week later popped out again. decided to put double sided velcro on the inside to hold it on - is now holding the top above the speaker grill, but the side near the door jam still sticks out..... i cant imagine what else to do? dont know if the fabric is too thick or what?? but it worked for a while - just not now???? and if i cared enough id prolly reupholster both rear panels anyways from scratch, but im not going to do that - so thats not an option.

Just to let people know....I'm gonna be threading the shaft with a 1/2 20 thread, and then re-tapping whatever shift knob with the same size threads......I think its the same as the stock thread size, but since the stock shifter tappers on the top once you cut that off, its a PITA to get the shifter to screw on properly.....You can ask BatCougar, what is done works great  ALSO its easier if you have either the stock shifter, the B&M shifter, or anyother shifter that has a cap on it that I can take off.....If ya dont understand, I'll show you guys at Fest why I say that......

Do I need to buy adapters to make them fit. Where can I put the tweeter? How long of 0 gauge wire do I need? Do I need two buy (2) AMP kits? Can you think of anything else I need to bring? I live in the area so I can bring whatever is needed. Thanks a lot for the help.

I have the Eclipse 7002 Headunit. It has preouts for everything and the brain is under the passenger side so we won't have to remove the headunit. Attached is a pic of the box I am going to use. I am picking up an Eclipse 12" Titanium sub and have two Eclipse Amps I want to install on the back of the seats if that is possible. The componants are MB Quart PSD 216's 6.5".

Installing the amps on the back of the seats is cake. Just bring self taping screws to secure them. The front speakers are 6x8...but so are the rears and I put 6.5" eclipses there without an adapter. But an adapter would be preferred but not needed. The tweeters could go in the pillars, with some modification.....or ask keene or lucky dog they are audio experts. 1 amp kit is needed. Make sure it has a power distributer block. The kit will have the power and ground wire for us. And hopefully enough so that we can run it direct to the distributer and then run 2 wires off of it (1 to each sub). One more thing I almost forgot. For the ground we have some options. Either tap into the factory grounds in the trunk or make our own by drilling a hole in the trunk flow. For obvious reasons the first method is preferred. Bring a cordless drill for mounting the amps, wire stripper, zip ties, and fork crimps. If I think of anything else I'll post it.

JENNAJ: Can you tell me what I need as in materials and length of stuff for replacing my headliner and side arm rests with black vinyl? or at least the arm rest parts all the way back.

I bought 3M spray 90 - got it right from Advance Auto Parts - i think i used 2 cans

as for material I only bought 4 linear yards of my tweed (its 54 inches wide)
that did my headliner (including sunroof), front and rear door panels - and i even have material left over

Thanks for the help iceotron and 01blcat. I will make sure i have everything needed. I want to put the tweeters in the piece just beside the mirror if you know what I am talking about. And Iceotron, I only have one sub so that one amp kit should be enough. Thanks again.

i think someone needs to paint my calipers for me

can you use the same paint from doing headlights with - prolly not - prolly need higher temp paint????

Iceotron
07-10-2003, 04:40 PM
sam - you should use the high temp paint or caliper paint sold at auto parts stores. Also if you want to have this done we sure to buy some heavy grit sand paper, dremmel with sanding drums or anything else to sand with. Being from new york you'll need to sand off all the rust from the calipers.

Also I suggest painting the hub part as well.

yeah id like to have it done -- maybe a mod meet - i think ill save it for after fest

What would be the possibility of anyone fixing my CV Shaft???????

When i went down to VA Beach back in May i was told of the problem - i know i know - but I havent fixed it yet :cover:

I dont want to spend $220 before fest to get it fixed - b/c i dont have that much right now and im not going to take the money out of my fest fund

i think i can get the part for under $100 - just didnt know if this was a possibility for anyone

there is still grease in the boot - the boot is actually just cracked i guess (havent looked at it yet) but i was also told i should just replace the whole boot at once and save $$ and time if the other boot ever goes - b/c i guess you have to take off the shaft anyways????

just wondering - im not sure how this would actually have to be done

DragonZ... I can help with installing the oil pressure gauge, I did mine myself. However, I havent done the air/fuel, so I cant help with that one.

Also, I probably wont be doing my dash at fest now, but I would like to install mesh grilles in the remaining parts of the drift bumper, I have the grille, just don't know how to attach it. Anyone wanna help?

Rob8100, Check out Auto Zone. They have a set of three LED's for ten bucks. They come with all the wires attached and small holders for the lights.
