I know this has been done before but i just want to know what exactly would i need to buy in order to do the swap of a atx to a mtx. Let me know what would be the best and second best. Cause i am serious about upgrading my tranny to level ten or swap it for a MTX. The only problem I would have is I don't think i could really find a reliable tranny shop around here to do the job of level ten. I am not going to send it to them for over 3k and Jagular send me a pm and tell me what you will charge for it. I have heard from 1500 to 2100 so just pm me.

well i just got done talking to level ten and they don't sell a transmission for the cd4e for our cars and they don't sell a kit for our cars eiher. he told me I would have to send in my tranny and have them work on it. So either this means they won't sella kit to me so I can have a tranny shop install it. So Jagular how do you get the stuff to do the upgrade. I think what I am going to do is just upgrade my torq converter and see where that takes me. I know it will only help in low end but hey our atxs need to start somewhere. Jagular i hope you read this and let me know what you think.

well since no one is posting anything, I talked to transmission exchange co and I talked about a shift kit for the cougar and there is one for around 28.36 and it helps do a few things to correct problems, he also advised that I not put a higher stall converter in because the tranny would not last long with one. Its nice to find out also that after around 4-5 years ford used some intelligence and no longer uses the CD4E for tansmissions. Nice to see it didn't happen before the 99 cougar. Now I am going to find a tranny shop that could install this and it will hopefullt at least prolong the life of my tranny more. I know that some of you guys are tired of reading and posting your comments on this topic but i could really use any advice or comments

Well I don't know about how long it would last, but it would do you no good! At least he steered you away form it!

I have no idea what this means! The CD4E is alive and well in the 2001-2003 Escape and Tribute! It is in 4 wheel drive form, but it is there. Only minor differences aside from the differential!

I don't know about everyone else, but I seem to live for this topic!! Recently anyway. I have done a ton of research into the CD4E and currently waiting on a reply from a locally well known company (TCI) about some possibilities for the CD4E and it's future in the aftermarket. Check out the CEG tranny forum for a bunch of my post, same screen name, and see what you can find. Also, I am putting together a website based on the CD4E, http://www.geocities.com/yyz81/cd4e/index.html . Yes! I am a Rush fan and Yes! I want to move the site somewhere else more stable, but I can't afford it.... so there!
