Guys,

Have been given a quote to have the windows tinted and at £175 is sounds a bargain.

The guy works at my local performance centre and he does it in his spare time. He tells me he went to college to learn this sort of thing and I'm gonna see him tomorrow to have a look at different grades of tint and his and a mates Probe that he has done. Odviously if his and his mates are a good job I'll trust him and go for it.

The only question I have is is there anything I should ask about or check with him?? Also what degree of tint do you guys recommend with silver paintwork?? I will check with him that anything he fits is road legal and ask him for a typed confirmation of its legality.

If it's any good I'll post his details with some pic's for any local boys that may be interested.

Cheers in advance,

Stu.

Sounds like you are already sorted, but for everyone else that is thinking of tinting windows, I have a guy that is good, We used him when I worked at Mercedes in Dartford, Kent. He did a excellent job on a V Class for me, using a light tint on the front 2 windows and a darker privacy type on the back windows. h eeven managed to sort out the graduated black spots the manfacturer use at the edge of the pane.

I have his mobile number, so email me for his details, if your interested.

Stu - that's what i paid for mine and i'm impressed with the quality. As far as i'm concerned there are two things you need to look out for. 1. Do they take the whole window out and put the film on as you get a better finish this way and 2. Do they offer a no bubble/flake guarantee with it??

By the way, I went for the "correct" side of legal and I like mine although it can be a bit dark at night!!

This is my car with 20% tint. I'm really happy with the look and definitely wouldn't go any lighter. I know 20% is illegal but I've been driving around with it for 14 months now with no problems at all.

Stu

Mine was done by a local firm called over revs. Try overrevs.co.uk.
Ben there did a grand job and did quote £150. He would travel too.

Did not remove windows but did one of the best jobs I have seen in three hours.

In this instance too, he did mine for free as long as I stuck some advertising on the motor. Seemed fair.

I have full dark tints on rear and rear quarters with 20% on sides, plus a sun strip. No complaints from police either. Some have complimented me too on managing to set of the black paint work and 18's so well.

Pictures to follow next week.
