Well i bought a superchip for my '99 atx for ecu code mzz3, which was on the ECU itself. i get the chip, install it and my car doesnt start. so i call up their tech line and he tells me that i probably have an updated ECU and that they would need a "hex" code that was handwritten somewhere in my engine and that once i had that to send it back and they will reburn it. does anyone have any clue what/where is this "hex" code and any advice?

It would probably be on a sticker on the underside of the hood.

If that's not the problem, it's likely you'll need to solder four contact points together as shown here. (http://216.242.145.14/pdqstore/content_imgs/13-203.jpg)

The hex code is not needed. What needs to be done is the connecter pointed need jumpers soldered to them. You can also go to the diablo website for further instructions to do this.

Before all that pull the chip and reclean the entire chip and connector to the computer throughly. Then put it back in. I know it sounds stupid and you may have cleaned both extremely well the first time but try it anyways before going through a hassle with everything else..

Like stated above, its either:

1. the wrong code (updated at dealership from original code)
2. bad connections (clean the contacts more)
3. jumpers (have to be soldered)

Other than that, maybe a Diablo would have been a better option

after a couple more hours or cleaning it and fidgeting with it i decided it was time to take it to the mercury dealership. i told the mechanic what i was doing and what i needed so he hooks it up to their computer and it tells me that my ECU was updated to code MZZ6 from MZZ3 so i call up superchips' techline from merc. and tell them my problem(for the 3rd time) and tell him my ECU code. and get this, he tells me that superchips doesnt have the technology for MZZ6, only up to MZZ5 and that i have to go to this place about 30 minutes from me to have my ECU info downloaded and then emailed to superchips where they will reburn my chip. sounds fun huh? please tell me this thing is worth it...
