yea yea i know i already have it posted in the How-To but i fig. that i can get a better response here and also quicker... anyways my buddy got me a cougar elmbem.. ill upload a pic 2morrow 5-28 and i was wonderin if the elmbem i have will fit in the holes that are in the car.. The logo is just the outline of the cat and i wanna replace it with that dumb Mercury elmbem. basically i was wonderin in the outer circle will cover up the mercury logo. the outercirle of the cat is just a tad bit smaller than that of the mercury. confused yet???.. well hopefully ill get some pics uploaded. basically i wanna know if its gonna look alright. cause i dont wanna mess things up. and how much of a pain is it to remove the Mercury symbol??

The mercury symbol is mad easy to remove, but theres 3 mounting holes in the boot that the emblem fits into with pegs. Im interested to see what your proposing... I just got a 3" carbon fiber cougar head emblem from muskatracing.com. Cost me like $43 shipped, but its slick.
edit: oh yea. The emblem is just held on with double sided tape. A heat-gun and some fishing line working gently behind it from top to bottom got it off nicely. For the residue I had to use chemical 3M emblem adhesive remover... which is like $9 at a good auto parts store.

well heres the pics. as posted in the HOW-2 sect.. im just wonderin if the pegs in my elbem will cover up the mercury ones.. or if the outside ring of the cougar will cover the holes.? if not should i just epoxy it shut or use the 3M stuff to close up the holes..

If you want to use JUST the metal emblem, yr gonna have to get a body shop to shave the trunk and fill the original mounting holes... cuz they WILL show.
i say, go to the want to buy forum, and say you want a stock mercury trunk emblem, and spray-paint one black so the Mercury logo doesnt show thru and mount your metal piece over it.
