Well, I've been to some minor car shows, but my first major one is coming up this weekend in Detriot. (Street Dreams Tours)...Anyways, I'm just wondering what everyone does to prepare for such things.. I have come up with a couple of questions.

Should I create a mod list for the judge that includes all the modifications I have? (If so, What should I include in it?)

I don't have many engine mods, but I hear anything gets you points.. Should I have my hood open the entire show, or just when the judging starts?

What spots should I double check to make sure are clean?

Any other advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you want you can make a display board or binder listing your modifications - judges dont always look though - but its nice for all the other people to look at when they are viewing your car. Pic of display board (http://www.fastcougar.com/forums/attachments/first%5Fcar%5Fshow%5F006%2Egif) its Knibbs - Ive got one similar that I use (just not on my comp - cant upload the pic)

you get a range of points: Engine, Interior, Audio/Stereo, Exterior, Suspension, Display, Cleanliness, etc...

Some engine mods are better than no mods - Yes Leave your hood up ALL show. Ive got a
shorty hood prop (http://www.fastcougar.com/forums/attachments/P1010131%2EJPG) i use for shows - but using your stock prop (http://www.fastcougar.com/forums/attachments/P1010016%2EJPG) is fine too.
I leave my hood up again so that people walking by can look at your car - plus god forbid - you might miss the judge or he might just walk by and judge it without even asking for you to talk about your car (this does happen - trust me - some judges look at the car walk around it and judge it - i hate that when they dont talk to you b/c they wont know all the nity gritty unless you point it out to them.)

CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN!!! If you can see it clean it. whole exterior and interior of course, engine bay, under hood, door jams, rims (try to even get inside the rim), wheel wells (get all around inside), if your hatch is going to be up - get the sides/dip that goes all around the hatch, make sure your exhaust tips are clean, the door when you open it the side thats near the panel where your weight/date sticker is, EVERYTHING.... ask anyone it takes me a good 2 hours to clean my car when im at a show - even if i just cleaned it before i left - i recheck everything.

If you have engine mods, leave hood up, if you have a stereo install, leave hatch up, if you have interior mods - seats, tv, paint, leave door open or at least cracked at the first notch, if you have trophies bring them for your display, if you have neons or tvs (when i get judged) i usually turn the car on so i dont run my battery down to show these features (last show the guy next to me needed a jump b/c he turned his stereo on and never let his car run - not fun and embarrassing) ummmm what else - GOOD LUCK .... bring a chair to sit in.

Samantha pretty much covered everything major Dante. Also, try to come up with some interesting yet original Ideas for displaying things. and like samantha said, CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN, clean it to the point you would eat off of any part of your car. Depending on availability of another car and time, take at least a week to clean. ( When I get ready for a large show, I actually remove my bumpers and hood to get into those tight spaces). I actually won something when I was stock w/ a system in my car (just by cleaning). Definatly create a mod list and either tape it on your windshield or somewhere in clear site for the judges. Definatly set up your car when the show starts, because judges can look like normal people walking around. Sometimes its obvious when you see a pen and pad , but just as a precaution.

Good luck with everything man!

PS: bring a chair cause your gonna need it lol
