"The engine has two sets of intake ports, one for low RPM's and one for high RPM's. If the high RPM set doesnt open at 3500 like its supposed to, you car will not move much. The IMRC controls them, it stands for Intake Manifold Runner Control "

The quote above is from a thread on 2.5 Duratec section. What does it mean?

The true techie guys can shoot me down if i'm wrong but i believe they are more commonly know as the primaries and secondaries. The secondaries open at 3500 revs and as you say if they don't open then the car will rev but not get any extra power from 3500 revs up ( where my car normally is!! ) It is my understanding that this is a common problem that occurs but you can fix it by cleaning out the secondaries. I have a walk though if anyone needs it by the way.
