Here it is. I did some major research about stainless and heat. Stainless headers will crack if the wrong materials are used. This effect of heat on stainless is called the CROY effect. In short certain grades of stainless when subject to high heat in the range of 900-1300 degrees F will faigue and crack. Basically the cromium starts to fail do to the heat. But there is a fix. If the person building the headers uses 304 stainless or mild steel flanges, and 316 or 321 stainless tubing and welds it with 347 stainless rod and the welding is done with a TIG welder the headers will not crack. This is the standard that I have used to build all of the turbo headers that I have built and will continue to build. I used this method not knowing why but just knowing it worked. I now know why and so do you. Thanks for listening.
