Ok, has anyone else noticed this? There seems to be a huge gap between the bottom of the headlights and the front bumper on every 01-02 Cougar. I first noticed the gap on my mothers 01 Cougar. Since then every single 01-02 Cougar that I have seen up close either on the dealer lot or on the street has this same stupid, cheap looking gap. Anyone else have the same issue with their 01-02 that knows how to fix this? Thanks much.

I just ran outside to take a look - the rubber seal for both of my headlights rests quite heavily on the front bumper. I have no gap at all on either side.
Edit: Come to think of it, the entire bumper and headlight were replaced when I had the accident - not sure if they tightened something up that normally wasn't when it came stock...

i have a gap, but i thought it was from when i hit a log which scratched up my bumper and i have yet to fix. so maybe it isn't from that.

No gap here... My weatherstripping makes solid contact with the bumper, and I've not ever had any front-end work done.

it happens more on 99-00 cuz they didnt include the weather shipping on alot of cars in 99. but i can tell you this ,, its common and its really put there to give the bumper som leway in case you bottom out cuz if its too tight then you might rip the bumper off.. but if you are worried about it , you might be able to tighten it up a little. jack the car up take the rims and the plastic wheel wells off. and you will see a bracket that connects the fender to the bumper .. if anything throw a couple turns on those bolts and it might close the gap alil. but i have a 02 with a razzi front so i have some weight on it .. and i have no real gap . but i know what your talking about

That's kind of odd that you say that because I've seen alot of 99-00 and have never noticed the gap on those model years. My girlfriend's 99 headlights are flush with the bumper cover.

I have no gap. Never had any damage to the front either.

I don't have a gap either and I've never had any front end damage or work done. Are you sure the 01s you have seen haven't had damage that caused the gap?

I'm positive. My mother's 01 Cougar and my 02 Cougar were both bought brand new and never had any damage whatsoever. Maybe the people who were in charge of installing the front bumpers on mine and my mother's cars were just being lazy.:(
My 02 has the gap, never any damage.
The weatherstripping is coming off of both headlights at both ends too.
