so I've worked for a driving school for over a year now, and this is what they told me today:

"we are going to be restructuring the company, and that includes getting rid of some driving centers" ... of course the one I work at is going to be 1 out of 3 being split up...everything will be moving to Avon, CT which is like 1 hr drive from my house...they said I am more than welcome to continue working throught the Avon office, but there would be no pay increase and no money given to me for the 1 hr a day travel...screw that! ok so now I am sooo upset and the worst part is that there is no date as to when we are "reconstructing" so I could be out of here in a week or a few months....

whatever -

That's some weak ****,

I'd start looking for a new job Now, Look in the papers... Lots of times lawyers offices hire kids to do gopher work, like taking stuff to/from court, going to the post office, going out to get supplies... I used to work for a Realtor taking calls, setting appointments, filing stuff, etc... that was ok.

Take what you do at the driving school and make it shine on paper and take that a few places. Just dont settle for retail! CVS and TJMaxx sucked beeg onez.

this is awesome advice.
Like he said, focus strongly on your existing skills when marketing yourself to new employers. Really take a good look at the things you do daily at your work and beef those things up as things you're really great at and are confident are what will help you do the best job for the next employer you meet with.

Businesses also use professional courier services, for the same tasks as described above, if delivery and driving for work is what you're interested in. You could even check out limo companies in your area. My fiance drove limos during college to help pay for bills. Extensive knowledge of the Boston-metro area is a plus!

Maybe it's an unwashed "Sassy Saturday Night Special"

That sucks, when I used to do graphic design for LocalTel they announced they were moving to Florida and all were welcome to come. I hate constant hot weather plus it's expensive to live down there so I declined. They laid off those of us who wouldn't go, allow us to collect unemployment. I'm using this opportunity to try to start doing freelance work, but right now it's rather slow.

Good luck with the new job hunt!
