puck and I just quite possibly set a new record about an hour ago. we swapped in Energy Suspension front trans mount insert into my car in 15 minutes!! custom_images/emoticons/shocked.gif
I've only had a quick test drive so far but let me just say... engine roll is pretty much gone and so is wheelhop. I wasn't even trying hard and I spun my tires 3/4 of the way through 1st gear without any wheelhop what so ever.
more later... have to go do some more driving...

Its the one SPMotorsports sells. There is no rear energy suspension rear mount. Thats the one that needs to be filled.

not to hijack the thread or anything, but can i get the urethane i need at Sears? i completely forgot about filling the mount, and now the engine goes in tomorrow. i know ov3n suggested a special urethane, but will something i can get at Sears work in a pinch?

there is no how to for how they do stuff over there... its just pure speed and knowing exactly what to do BEFORE they do it... heh
nice job man! and i thought 20 minutes for my GC's was insane! well... 20 min for 4 new springs has gotta be a record too actually!

That's pretty good I did mine in about 25 minutes and it took me like 10 figuring out if I could leave the one bracket attacthed to the trans or not....nope it had to come off as well. Easy Peasy and a good mod, made a HUGE difference on the 2.5 doesn't cut it on the SC 3L though too much power so I am installing the street link from performance fords this weekend to help with the wheel hop.

I ordered one of these almost 3 weeks ago from duratec performance. I wasnt told they were out of stock till i made an inquiry, and supposedly now theyre made of unobtainium.
edit: correction... i placed my order april 24th. Told they were out of stock on the 7th... told they were still out of stock on the 15'th, about to be told theyre still out of stock today the 21'st.

basic how-to....
1. get front of car on stands
2. use jack and plywood to lift the engine on the oil pan, gently, to ease pressure on the mount
3. unbolt through bolt and remove 15mm deep
4. unbolt two bolts on subframe 15mm deep
5. pry mount out. you have to bend it a bit and the fan shroud. easier if your battery is relocated.
6. reinstall in reverse order, tighten bottom two bolts last with jack removed
now that i've done a bit more roadtesting... it is definitly hard now to stop myself from opening it up in 1st because i can floor it and all I get is black marks down the road :) I still feel a bit of wheelhop in corners but thats the suspensions fault...definitly a worthy mod. You could definitly do this without an ES insert too, just a bunch of sticky sticky urethene. of course expect your car to be on the jacks while the urethene sets. if you go that route definitly fill the back mount also, it can be done in place i think.
i'm pretty sure even with a completely stock cougar you'de still have tons of fun with this mod ... burn those factory tires ! :)

it was more like 10 minutes to do the swap... cause for 5 minutes we talked about how messy my garage was, and how a special tool i (used to) own was busted :)

Good show guys! I cant beleive some people still run an mtx without roll restrictor bushings..... it makes a world of diffrence.
Oh.. and for the record.... Craig and I swaped out a broken short side half shaft in a documented 6 minutes while on the grid at Road Atlanta. The P.A. anouncer even commented on the speed. :)
Its amazing what you can do when you get lots of practice :)

Yeah and you changed a set of rear brake pads in 16 min and 7 sec, without air tools
Still don't think you can't swap UIM/TB/LIM in less than an 1.5 hours.
