I need to gap the new plugs I just got (NGK Iridiums). I assume that I can get one at AutoZone or something....is it cheap? What IS it acutally?

feeler gauge... it's a series of very thin sheets of metal, general ranging from .003 to .025 inches, and you add up the thicknesses to get the gap you want, then bend the ground until you can slide the feelers between the electrode and the ground with just a little resistance

Fantastic! It sounds real easy to do....now, I should have a .054 gap - is that what I'm lookin for?

stock plug gap is printed on the underside of the hood... IIRC, i think stock is .052-.054

oh, and to answer your other questions, yes you can get it at autozone, and yes, it's cheap. :)

yeah, just go to autozone, they are like these little round things and the edge is a different thickness around it, usually have them by the register in the front, just ask for the tool for checkin spark gap

I was just wondering.. but has everyone forgot that you DONT GAP IRIDIUM PLUGS?! I recently replaced all 6 with NGK Iridiums, and left the gap alone, no pinging and engine feels much more alive. I have talked to many shops about gaping of the iridium plugs and everyone said to leave it alone. Just my .02.... unless I just totally messed up the gap on my car... hahahaha

well, for the record, my Autolite APP103's were gapped at something like .025 when i bought them... if nothing else, at least check the gap.
