An AirFuel Ratio or Oil Press? Im thinking about getting an Air/Fuel but im not sure how easy this would be to hook up

Air-fuel: Useless, IMO. It's a pretty light show, and that's about it. No useful information that I've ever been able to tell.

Oil Pressure- Remove the plug at the back of the head and put in the oil pressure sender (visible here, sticking out of the back of the engine)

Route the wires, and done.

thanks for the tip! , ive seen that how-to that was posted a while back and it was really confusing. but is there any way i could mess up when installing the oil press gauge? someone told me i needed a t-tap or something.

Thanks again

No, when you remove the plug from the head, the oil pressure sender screws right into it. Here's a link to my how-to. The parts where you see a "T" fitting are my failed attempts to tap the oil pressure from within the block.

Make sure you use pipe DOPE (not tape) on the threads.... I recomend ARP stud lube/sealer... its only available at the speed shop though... in a pinch use the stuff they use to seal gas pipes with...(any hardware store) Dont use tape and dont leave it dry... it WILL leak.

The oil pressure gauge install is pretty easy. I first tried it dry and it did leak like exigent said. But i used tape then and I have had no problems, it has been a good 10 months or more since I installed.

David:

I show in my How-To usig Teflon tape, backed off the fitting by one or two threads to allow for proper electrical conductivity. I have no leaks. Dope would work to, just make sure you give a little bare metal to the engine so you get a good signal.

I used tape also. No leaks thus far.

When I worked in the high voltage world, we used tape EVERYWHERE. I have plugs holding in 3000 gallons of dielectric fluid in tap changers that use tefon tape.
When I would come back a year later for routine maintenence, no a drop had leaked.

Tape works.
Period!

Huh... maybe I loused up the install of the tape... but it didnt work for me. I had a mad leak. Point taken though :)

Remember though that those acid tanks wernt presureinzed to 100psi or more. Ive seen my guage go to way past 100psi on a cold start.... most tapes arnt certified for that kind of pressure.

They are pressurized to about 3-5psi.
The real pressure however comes from the weight of the fluid.
