When ever I haven't driven my car for at least a couple hours I hear a short "grunt" or deep sounding grind when I fully let out the clutch either in 1st or reverse. The funny thing is it only happens the first time I let out the clutch. I don't hear the noise if I've been driving for any amount of time and start off from a dead stop.

Anyone have this problem or have any suggestion of what might be causing this?

BTW, my Cougar is a 02 with only about 5,000 miles.

You got warranty...let the dealer fix it...

1 word for yea....DEALER....ok 2...WARRANTY....

sounds like either the syncs or the blockers...from what I understand they are in newer tranies to protect the more vital parts is like a $50 part. With only 5k on the car the dealer should cover it for yea.
