well i am back from the big show in greenville and i regretfully post this message
my contour has been totalled she was the love of my life next to my children and my husband but she was not strong enough to take on two concrete bridge rails and three pine trees and later she could not take being dropped off the back of the flat bed that was towing her to her final resting place ---- but even through all that she stood proud and let me have one last drive at the wrecker yard and even with the exhaust draaging the groung she stilled purred like a baby the baby that i havenursed for 4 wonderful exciting years
even worse is i will not be purchasing another contour no other contour could ever take her place i guess with a two year old and a baby on the way i will be getting an suv
this is the hadrest thing i have ever had to say and one of the hardest losses i have ever had to take i can't stop crying even as a send this message i know that might sound kinda weird but i know some one out there can relate
so ya'll please be careful and bid me happy suv finding a hope one day i can love a car once again

I am so sorry to hear that - believe me I can relate. I have had so many mishaps happen to my Cougar...but be thankful that you are alright. It could have been worse. Have fun finding an SUV :)

I feel your pain. I just recently got another cougar. If you really loved the car just get another one. It may not be the same but its still a good car that you liked. Anyways my car didn't even give me a last ride i hit a pine tree head on and it totalled it. Is your contour a SVT or regulara i have a friend looking for an SVT engin and he can't have mine. Well good luck whatever you decide. As i say to myself and my friends all the time i guess were just going to have to start driving more carefully. Good luck and be well. Thank god that your alive to drive another day

rikki: I am so sorry to hear that!!! I know you loved that car, and put alot of work into it to get it as nice as it was. I think you should try to find an SVT, personally. After driving the 'tour I dont think anything else would drive the same. Here is a picture I took of you while you were in the sound comp at the show in mccomb. I might still have the high-res version if you want it.

well, guys after lots of consideration i have decided to buy another tour i just dont think anything else will ever satisfy me and my crazy driving habits
and kade thank you so much for sending me that picure it meant a lot i cried like a baby and larry (my husband) gets so upset because he is the one that wrecked it and he feels so guilty
hopefully i will have another tour in the next couple of weeks
the one i am seriously considering is in connecticut so it will be quite a few days of driving to get her
wish me luck and thanks to everyone for the support i have had a really hard time dealing with this
and yes i am thankful that we are alright i just loved that car so much it hurt my soul to see her like that ( (i will post pics when i get them)

get an SVT! trust me. no other car will drive like these do for the money, guaranteed. After driving the 'tour an SUV would just be blasphemous. Try and get whatever mods you can back, the intake would fit nicely on your shiny new SVT... ;)

i already got my intake off my car along with all my stereo i have not been able to get back to the car to get my underdrive pulleys and my indiglos are superglued in all my neon tubes got busted and i guess the superchip will have to stay in it-----so the only things i will be able to reuse are the intake and the pulleys but the svt i am currently looking at already has all the mods mine had except the vinyl strip on the windshield and the trunk reflector covered body color but i already have the tools to complete both of those mods my goal is to get one that i don't have to do much to

Just thought I would add here that Neal, from Grenada, his thinking of putting his SVT on the market again. Here's a few pic's from the Huntsville/Nashville Meet last month. He and I have done a good deal to it in the last few months!! The only thing off hand that I know that it needs is new front struts, thanks with to some road construction that he ran into on his way back home from my house one day...

oh and kade there may be no such luck with the pulleys they are still on the car right now and i dont know if i wil be able to get them off the car before the insurance moves it
and btw my insurance screwed me i'm getting $6200 (after deductible) for my car (as if) and so everyone knows STATE FARM SUCKS !!!!!!!

HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY TOO............
ANYWAY - STEALS AND DEALS IS ADVERTISING A BLACK CONTOUR SVT FOR 9,000. THE OWNER IS FROM COVINGTON........

the black SVT in covington has 90K on it, it still drives well but pretty high mileage.
rikki...I want some pulleys! hook me up! lol they should wait awhile to move it, call the yard and tell them to hold it for you. State Farm was good to me until they kicked me off, I got 6700 for my 95 mystique I totalled

I will call tomorrow and talk with him about it, then shoot you a PM as soon as I hear something from him. I hate to see him sell her, but I would much rather see it in the hands of someone that love's tours just as much as us!

we really needed more room so i bought a damn suburban yesturday its nice but not nearly as fun as the tour (and a lot more expensive it has a 42 gallon gas tank) maybe after i get some bills paid i can buy another tour or maybe even a cougar but right now priority one is getting the suburban fixed up (i dont do stock) it already has ground effects and running boards and i have ordered clear corner lights and euros getting the windows retinted tomorrow and its going to the exhaust shop saturday hopefully in the next month or so i will get a moderate 2/3 drop then on go the 20's or if the price is right 18's and the list goes on --- so any way i need to plan a trip down there to see you guys
i do plan to buy my tour back from the insurance company they only want $500 for it but we have not settled with them yet since i got the suburban and i am no longer walking i refused their cheesy settlement offer and told them when they offered what my car was worth we would settle and until then to sit on tacks
that means you may get a pulley after all, kade !!!!
and there will be many other parts for sale but like i said i have to settle first then buy it back and that could take a few months because i am not giving in to the insurance company.
sorry for the long post you guys

Damn that sucks ! i got 11000 for my 99 mercury cougar. I have allstate though...more expensive but i guess it payed off. Good luck with the gas guzzeling suburban. If you have the money to pay for 20's and a 2/3 drop you can put a downpayment on any cougar/contour remember that and good luck

BTW rikki, if you get the car back, see if you can get the 3rd brake light cover off the back dash off in one peice, mine kinda shattered.
how are things goin? got an update for us?

i am still waiting on the insurance but...
i have tinte the windows on the suburban and added dual exhaust installed my stereo system,i am still waiting on my clear corners and euros they are suppposed to be in tomorrow, i ordered a 3/4 lowering kit today and am ordering my 18's tomorrow went with the 18's instead of the 20's so i could tuck them with that 3/4 drop tuckin would have been real hard because of the ground effects and running boards
so all in all things with the insurance company are not any better and things with the suburban are great its gettin fixed up faster than expected
thank god the husband has money!!!!! ha ha
