I just installed a Pro 5.0 shifter in my fiance's 99 cougar. It was a direct fit. It took all of 15-20 min to install. it has nice gates very positive gear placement and is a lot shorter in between shifts. The shaft is billet steel and it comes with a billet aluminum reverse lockout and a billit aluminum shift nob. The shift nob is the same basic shape as the factory nob. The kit sells for 160 plus shipping, or you can buy it without the nob for 145 plus shipping. This shifter is TWICE the shifter any B&M or steeda or anyone else's shifter ever thought of being. This is made by a RACING shifer company. They knew what they were doing when they made this peice.

could you please post a link so we could check it out.
A person I know installed a Pro 5.0 in a Mustang and likes it very much. I understand that the Mustang shifter has a completely revised shift mechanism from stock. Is the Pro 5.0 just a shortened shifter like the B&M or was the pivot point altered like the Steeda?

Both. It's about 1 1/2 to 2 inches shorter and the shift pivot is moved up about a 1/4 of an inch. this is probably one of the nicest shifters. I install Pro 5.0 shifters in everything. I've put tons in mustangs, cameros, one in a 2003 cobra mustang, and now this cougar. They really do thier reseach before making one of these things. It rocks.

where are the pics? i am very interested in it and have not seen any pics of it at all. it was either this or the steeda shifter. looks like less work for this one, especially since i have an early 99 with the older shift tower.

I try to figure how to remove my stick shift to modify it. Since you went through that, could you tell me how to do it please.
Do we have to unscrew the complete base from under the car or can we remove the stick from inside the vehicle.
Thank you for your help.

you can do it all inside the car, unscrew the knob, pull off the boot. the shift tower is held in by a couple bolts and a little clip...just look around real well and you can visualize how it all goes together, just dont forget when it is time to put it all back together
