Guys,
Does anyone know where I can get genuine or decent copies of the ST24/200 mesh in decent sized sheets.
I have looked at other meshes but I'm not too impressed with them.
Have tried Ford but they only sell pre cut sections.
I need enough to do the grill and lower bumper inserts.
Cheers,
Stu.

try ESP design (http://www.espdesign.co.uk) they have some meshes.
also have you looked around your local B&Q i know it sounds stupid but they have big sheets of mesh and will probably cost less than the mesh from a car shop

I've got the upper and lower grills made from the ST24 mesh from ESP. The mesh isn't cheap but it's spot on. You can buy cheaper expanded aluminium mesh from B+Q and Halfords but it's no way near as good. Do it right first time round and buy the stainless ST24 mesh, you won't be disappointed.

Cougarbloke,
Cheers that's exactly the stuff.
Sorry to be a pain but can you post some more pics if possible and also any hints and tips for fitting it.
For the radiator grill I'm thinking of cutting the plastic slats out of the plastic frame, rubbing down and spraying the remaining plastic surround and then fitting the mesh to that. What do ya reckon ?
Stu.
Sorry, another question, what size sheet did you need ?

I too am now looking at meshing the grills as i have been trying to get the USA spec one with no luck, so now am looking at other options.
A couple of questions Cougarbloke, if i may.
1/ what size mesh did you have to buy from ESP, was the 22" by 7" big enough?
2/ and as Shandy said before any more piccies, and tips on fitting.
I can't see much of a problem fitting the top grill, but i was wondering how the lower grills fit.
Thanks.............Gav.

Stu,
Apologies for not getting back earlier.
You're correct in wanting to cut the slats out of the top grill, that's exactly what I did. I was also going to rub it down and spray it but I found if you rub it down like you would with new paintwork you'll get an excellent finish.
Use progressively finer grades of wet and dry, then finish with some T-Cut and you'll end up with a superb finish that won't require painting.
I cut the mesh exactly so it butted up to the top edge of the grill but I allowed an overlap of approx 5mm on the bottom (I actually made a template first in order to get the size perfect). I fixed it to the frame of the grill using a very small bead of good quality black silicone sealant strategically placed so you cannot see it. ;)
I rubbed down the mount that the Ford badge sits on and sprayed it with matt black paint. I attached it to the grill using 2 M4 bolts, then I pushed the badge back on.
I must admit it's a very fiddly job to do but the end result is worth it. :)

Cheers Cougarbloke,
I'm glad you've done it the same way that I was proposing to. Just so I don't waste any money what size sheet is needed??
Groove, cheers for the link but unfortunatly it doesn't work, I'm guessing it was to another thread on this topic.
Cheers fella's,

Not sure about the size as I think the sheet sizes have changed since I did it.

Hey Groove,
Don't know if you've sorted this yet but thought I'd let ya know I ordered my mesh today from ESP.
I worked out the size we would need to do both upper and lower grills and it is the 8" wide sheet, the 7" may just do it but for the sake of an extra £5 I thought I'd play safe.
Hopefully let you see how it goes over the weekend

Hey andycougar
have you used this mesh yourself, if so is it the same quality as the piccie on the site is not too good?
Prices look good if quality is equal.
Hey Shandy
have you got your grill done yet? if so have you got any piccies?
Cheers ..............Gav.

If anyone has the plastic mesh intake after they have taken it off the bumper and done a stainless mesh conversion, I would be interested in taking it off their hands! Thanks
