172 Lb/Ft of Torque at the wheels. (Double posting this in Zetec and FI forums)

I can't say I'm pleased with the HP numbers but I like the TQ.

We did three runs, all third gear pulls. Those were the highest numbers I got, but they weren't together. Here are the numbers on each run:

Run 1: 148.9 HP and 171.3 TQ
Run 2: 146.7 HP and 170.9 TQ
Run 3: 146.4 HP and 172.5 TQ

All the runs were done back to back, within 70 seconds. I can't scan the sheet right now but HP looks like it peaks around 4500rpm and TQ peaks around 3500. I also took a DV of the run but I need a new cable to hook it up to my new laptop and I won't be able to upload it for a while.

I was real nervous about the runs. I've been getting a engine code I belive it's P0171, System too Lean(Bank 1), every seventy to 100 miles after I reset it, so I was worried the car would blow up on the dyno. To try and keep it as safe as I could I added a little over 2 gallons of 103 octane gas to a quarter tank of 93, for a little anti-detonation protection.

The car survived the pulls with no audible deto and I drove it home from Huston. I dyno'd it in Huston at the Universal Technical Institute, Hot Rod U, cause my dad setup a student field trip there and I got the dyno time free.

Like I said, I would have liked more HP but the TQ numbers are nice. I have as much torque at the wheels as stock V6 Cougars have at the crank. And even with all the new stuff I've bought I've still spent less than a V6 cougar cost.

I never thought I'd see a 4 cylinder have more torque than horsepower. Interesting numbers.

I'm no pro here in the turbo dept., but it sounds like your turbo is running out juice up high, thus the low HP numbers. You may want to look into a slightly larger turbo, to help shift the power range slightly higher in the RPM curve but provide with significant gains. Peaking torque at 3500 RPM in a 4 cyl seems awfully early for such a small engine. If you can make it peak more in the area of 4500-5000 you would have some hp numbers possibly past the 200 hp mark....

remember HP = TQ * RPM / 5252 so the higher rpm in which you are producing torque the more hp you get.....

doing this may also help a little for the gas mileage when driving around town keepign the revs low, yet still provide an insane boost of power when you step on the accelerator.

That is what I was thinking Puck. Ever think of putting a T-28 on it? I get a pretty good deal on them. It will sit on the T-2 flange but would require a different discharge flange.

This is what my turbo flange looks like on the turbo:

So a T-3,T-2, T-whatever won't work. I don't want to mess with the exaust manifold again. The only thing that will be close to a direct bolt on are upgrades for the WRX, since that's where the turbo I have comes from. I also don't want to have to redo the downpipe again.

I don't know, I've heard this turbo will take me to 300 crank hp, and I don't want to run more than 200 whp on a stock block, so I'll wait and see what kind of power it puts out. And the earlier it puts the power down the more fun it is to drive on the street.
