View Full Version : PATS: Disabling it

I know it can be done. I have heard of others doing it. I know theses people don't want this to be public knowledge. I want to disable PATS on my car for very legitimate reasons, I do not plan to do anything else with it.

If you know how to do it, please pass the info on to me (preferably in private). PMs, emails whatever, just please let me know what I need to do.

Thanks.

both of thoses kits would be useless to me... they require you to have a functioning PATS system before hand so you can program the module... even the second link which has a little bullet point stating no wire or ring is needed to be mounted next to the factory receiver is actually false... i called the company up and their sales support staff said a module (not wire or ring) is mounted... i told him his site is awfully misleading and if i didn't call first i would of been one pissed off customer....

so yeah i'm still looking for a solution from someone out there.....

HELP!!!

Go visit your local stereo and remote starter installer. They bypass it all the time to do remote starter setups. There should also be a couple guys on CEG that can tell you for sure how to do it.

Good luck searching this is why I just had the dealer program my SVT computer, everyone I called said they couldn't do it. What a bunch of BS.

Maybe try to squeeze some info from a dealer. I'm sure they know how.

Does your PATS light blink at all?

dude thank you... that link was very helpful...

btw: my theft light blinks just as normal (like 1 blink per second) and doesn't skip a beat when i try to start it.

OK well I'm "supposed" to be going to the dealer on wednesday, however last night i came up with a crazy idea and after much contemplating decided to go with it.... i beleive i am now 50% through disabling PATS - as long as my theory pans out....

From what I can tell, PATS stops starter and ignition.

My Theory: The PCM checks the PATS receiver module for the code, if the code matches, the PCM enables the devices (starter, ignition) to work by closing 2 ground circuits. 1 for starter, 1 for ignition.

Finding the starter ground was easier than cake. And I was able to bypass it and have the engine kick over, by key. Now I need to find this elusive ignition ground, and if I can I hope i'll have PATS bypassed.

The reason why i contemplated for so long, was the fact that I was forcing a wire to get ground. I was scared this would backfire and fry the PCM. Well to date everything still seems fine. Tonite I will start the enduring tasks of trying to find a similar solution for ignition.

I know people say that PATS is all PCM based and the PCM will just not calculate the ignition maps. I though about that then though the PCM would need to be making a lot of unnecessary processing all the time, so now my "thoughts" are that the check is only done once when the key is inserted, then the PCM doesn't care about it. Hopefully my thoughts turn out to be true and I'll be homefree. Another thing that tipped me off in this direction was the fact that fuel was still being pumped when trying to start it, and if you held WOT it would NOT pump fuel at startup... calculations made by the PCM.

BTW: If this works, I WILL NOT post how and what wires in a public forum. Only thoses whom I have met in person and know very very very well would I perhaps reluctantly let them know how. Think about it, if I posted in a public forum how to steal your car would you be happy?

what's the big deal?? when I had my alarm installed they had to disable it so the two systems didn't conflict. must be a piece of cake. it certainly isn't going to stop anyone from stealing your car. it's just some gimmick to pacify the nieve.

Have you even read this thread? You MUST have a working PATS system to disable it.

chill out man. I did read the entire thread. How do you think I quoted a post that was made towards the end of it. My post was in referance to posting about how to disable it and the reasons why/why not. I was simply stating that it wouldn't be a big deal to post how to disable due to the fact that it's done everyday when you have an alarm installed and every theif already knows how to do it anyway.

Try asking people who have installed a push button start without using the key, I believe there are some people on the other forums who have done it.
