Get the one BAT sells. 5-7hp gain from that electric water pump.

unless you're going to use the 3L heads, you shouldn't need one...

i saw someone type out a list of block and head combinations that do and don't need the electric water pump... do a search for it...

but basically, 98-00 3L heads = electric pump, 01 3L head = no electric pump, IIRC

If that's so wouldn't you still benefit from having the electric water pump anyway? I mean, while the engines out you may as well...

yes, you would, but it's $300'ish you wouldn't have to spend

well.. i read that 98-99 engines were the easiest to use for the swap- and they'd swap right in- Will newer ones work? and will they be easy to drop in? I already located a 99 Taurus engine.. kinda pricey.. but it was the best i could find- 950 for the longblock and it has 44k miles on it. ((my coug has 66)) other than that i called around for 98- 99 and couldn't find any nice looking engines. Called Ford and they said 3 grand for a new one... so any input?

98-99 easier to swap need to use the BAT pump and controller, but that pump is way more effiecient and will keep things much cooler then stock system.

00+'s no need for waterpump but you have to fab up a LIM bracket to mount to the heads and I heard its a PITA!

there is a lot of info to be found by searching about this... also, try over at CEG.

the FAQ topic up top has something to say about it, too.

but... 98-01 will "drop right in". your choice of heads/intake will determine the need for fabrication, electric water pump, etc. you will NEED to pull at least one banks of heads off the 3.0 to swap on the 2.5 motor mount, so don't base your choice on whether or not you'll have to pull the heads. i almost did that... heh.

950 is a little pricey for a 99 with 44K, i'd say. i got my LATE 99 longblock (or EARLY 00, i haven't quite figured that out yet) with 20K miles for 750. CarPart.com (http://www.carpart.com) has, like, 14 pages of 99's and i found one in my area with it. check there.
