well progress has been slow. I haven't had much time to work on this lately. But I did get it ready for painting, so I dropped it off yesterday afternoon. It should be done tomorrow or Thursday.
Yup, it's for all 3 gauges

Oooh that's gonna look hot when finished. Nice work!:) Where'd you get the pods from?

EDIT: Got any pics of your car from the front? I'd like to see the OEM CF hood on a black car.:)

the black pod is from Lotek (http://www.gaugepods.com), it's origianlly made for a 2nd gen Eclipse, and heavily trimmed
the tan pillar is just an OEM part from Ford.

sorry, no pics of the hood, yet.

Looks good man, I like creativity... I am doing something along the same lines... 2 Gauge pods are useless these days... I am locating 6 gauges in my car right now and its hectic....

I can locate 7 guages for you James

3 in driver side pillar
2 in the center vents
2 where the ashtray goes

and you still have room to mount one of thoses huge tachs on the dash cluster bezel :)

looks good.. you made the same mistake i did.. how you gonna get the gauges into the pod?? or are autometer ones you can put in after installing the pod??

Pinebox

mistake? no, Autometers you can push in from the front side, makes them real easy to install in the pod.

omg.... PLEASE... for the love of God, please don't put monster tach's on your dashes.
you guys always talk about how bad 'rice' is... then ya go and pull an unclebens. unbelievable.

but the 3pod is coo. personally i'd have just tacked a spare cup onto the 2pod for the cougar. ;)

Pinebox, not trying to hijack your thread... just going to answer Pucks question...

PuckPuck... Remember I cannot use my pillar cause of roll cage... I can't use my ashtray area cause I have my headunit there... Remember the Kicker Pod? Oh ya well I am gonna do that and then 4 gauges where the airbag used to be... Right now we are installing 6 gauges...however with the addition of 2 Nitrous bottles, you can add atleast 2 more.

no worries here about the hijacking

but it looks like my install is gonna be pushed back a week or so. bad weather this weekend. so without a garage, it makes working on the car a real chore. But it's not like I'm on a tight show schedule or anything.

That a pillar is sweet! you could also put a gauge in the drivers side vent making 4 gauges on that one side.

BTW i love my 5" tach. The stock tach is .5 seconds slower than the autometer and could be off from 500-700rpm during a race or at the track. bad bad!

thanks for all the comments!

countless hours adding filler, smoothing, more filler, more smoothing..... but, it was worth it.

it's a little strange driving with it. I've never had anything on my a-pillar like that. I keep wanting to hold it up while I'm driving. :goofy:

It looks freaking awesome man. A nice touch to the car for sure.

What color and brand of paint did you use and how well does it match?

Pinebox
03-26-2003, 11:12 AM
I had a body shop paint it. So I don't know what brand they used. But the color and texture are almost a perfect match. You'd have to look real close to see any difference.
