I am deployed with someone looking at headunits. He (unfortunately) has an '03 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and wants to put in the Alpine CDA 7893 in his Jeep. He wants to know whether or not it will fit. According to the size codes, they say it will, however the site that he initially found the site, says that it wont. If anyone could shed some light on this subject, he would appreciate (that and he will stop buggin me about whether or not the damn thing will fit).

no matter what kind of vehicle it is there will be a company that makes a "Dash Kit" . More than likely a company like Skosche, Metra, etc. will have one. Just go to a local audio shop or even Best Buy and they should carry one.

I figured the same, I just wanted to get the opinion of others. I know that there are people on here more knowledgable than myself (plus this cold weather here has frozen my brain). I will let him know, thanks.

How big is the radio? Is it just the regular din size that's about an inch and a half tall, or is it the din and a half that about three inches tall? If it's the regular din size, then you can just buy a dash kit and it'll fit fine. If it's the din and a half, I don't think it will. Is the radio in your friends Cherokee rounded on the edges? If they are, a din and a half radio won't fit without a good bit of modification.

To my knowledge it is just a regular DIN size. There are a couple of other Alpine headunits that are the same size but they are listed as they fit. That is where the confusion came into play. Im not sure if the edges are rounded off or not. I will have to get with him and find out.

Yes, I know about crutchfield. Thats where I showed him the headunit. He said that according to what ever they use to match headunits to cars, the one he wants doesnt fit. After further research on other sites, we found that there is one with the same dimensions that does fit. That is why the question came up.
