Damian,

Thanks for the e-mail circular.

The Sunday Mirror rarely shows either taste or style so do not feel insulted on the Cougar 'naff' report.

I am sure that the Sunday Mirror you read the report in was passed onto you by a neighbour !

What really annoys me about this sort of thing is that it is nothing more than the author's opinion. There is no reference to any research or survey and the author does not even appear to have put his/her name to it.

I wonder what the journalist drives? Something cultural like a Vauxhall Vectra or perhaps a Toyota Avensis? Mmmmmm....

It is interesting to look at the languague used. Quite a mixture of styles all jumbled together resulting in nothing more than column fodder. One of those articles than never gets read to the end but is just skimmed as the page is turned.

Style is very much an individual thing and people will make up their own minds, unless of course they wish to blindly follow the so called gurus.

I know which I prefer.

The author of the article is the one and only Mr Quinten Wilson of Top Gear fame, this is the man who allegedly has been caught for drink driving and clocking cars so to me is opinions do not matter, but i thought you would all like to see it.

Mike i used to drive a Vectra and an Avensis!!! must admit they were company cars and not my choice.

I am shocked and appalled custom_images/emoticons/shocked.gif

To put this rubbish into context, a couple of incidents within the last few weeks...and there have been plenty more....

1) British Gas engineer arrives to fix central heating, Cougar is on the drive.."Hey, nice piece of kit" he says.
2) Return to car in local supermarket car park, guy comes up and says " Just wanted to compliment you on your car, I've always admired the Cougar"

Nuff said :)

If I were the Editor I would not have paid for that drivel.

These w**kers may aswell get their mouths stitched up because they clearly talk out of another orifice.

They just try to be controversial in order to get themselves heard and make a name for themselves.

The majority of motoring journalists emit bucket loads of verbal diarrhea when reviewing cars.

Oh no- I had no idea I was driving a car that was out of style! I'd better sell it! custom_images/emoticons/shocked.gif
Taste in cars (as anything else) is completely subjective. That piece was obviously aimed at those sad people who are unable to form opinions for themselves, and so rely on others to tell them what's 'in'.

Had to laugh.
Watched an episode of 5th Gear this afternoon.
The very same Mr Wilson confessed to having purchased from new and subsequently run 3, yes 3, Ford Ka's.
On an edition of the same program earlier in the week in said he had owned a Mercedes 500 Class Coupe.
I think I smell a large rodent with a long tail.
Whilst Mr Wilson may have owned many cars, after all he is a second hand car dealer, I do wonder whether he simply says what the audience want to hear.
Mr Wilsons credibility has just left the building......

:confused:Nothing wrong with a KA (aka bubble), thats my car; occasionally my wife lets me drive the Cat. On a trip in France at Christmas she (who must be obeyed) drove the Cat and I drove the bubble. the roads were bendy and we had about 100 miles to do - the bubble won (by 25 mins). But if I had been driving the Cat!!!

The article by Quentin is not new. I read it about 14 months ago just after I bought the Cat. So what, the Cat does have design problems, but overall is a great Grand Tourer. I don't mind the fact that William Hague had one - his choice for wife shows good taste.
