Anyone got one??

I just switched out a CDA-7873. I seemed to get better bass out of my sub with the old unit.

On the new unit if I change the bass EQ I get more bass out of the sub but it also boost's the bass in the door speakers. Which would be fine if I didn't get distortion out of the door speakers. So my delima is up the bass get distortion out of door speakers but great bass out of the sub. or lower the bass and get good sound all around but not as much of the bass I like.

Anyone have this model that can tell me how to get the best of both worlds???

I'm not really familiar with that particular radio, but look in the owners manual and see if the radio has a high pass filter on it. If it does, turn that on and it'll take all the bass below a certain frequency out of the speakers and stop the distortion. If it doesn't, you can also try running to any Best Buy or Circuit City and buy some bass blockers. These are about $10 a pair and go inline on the positive wire of your speakers. They basically do the same thing as a high pass filter and knock out any bass below a certain frequency. Other, more expensive options are to replace the speakers, or get a four channel amp that has a built in crossover/high pass filter. The amp is the most expensive, but also the best way to go. It'll get more power to your speakers so they can play louder without distorting, clear up the sound a little bit, and allow you set the exact point in the bass range where your speakers stop playing.

Well I have aftermarket speakers already. good ones too. I played with it a bit and after redoing the settings on the amp I think I got it back the way it was.

I figured that since it was almost the same model it would just drop in, set the settings the same and it would sound just as good. This one takes a bit more tweaking :)

if i were you i would adjust the hp and lp frequencies... that way you get better highs and deeper cleaner lows.
