First off, Engine is out being rebuilt.
other than the run of the mill SVT upgrades, what parts are available..
Stronger Rods? Pistons etc?
We will be putting Clevite(sp) bearings in.

I'm also going to inspect the Water pump(replace if necessary)
My Clutch is also almost gone, so more than likely going with a grizzly(what other options are there)
I'm also thinking of including a accusump oil pump from BAT... a little preventative maintenence.

Anything else I'm missing?
Thanks guys.

WHATEVER YOU DO....
Do NOT get a grizzly OEM-type clutch..
It will probably not last long...
A friend of mine went through 2 of them in the course of 6 months, and mine just lasted almost exactly one year.
There's a few others here and on CEG who also had a grizzly die on them.

Well, for rods and pistons, you have two options. Find an SVT Engine and take the rod/pistons out of that... or have them custom forged.

Personally, if you're doing all that worked, and you're going to do pistons/rods, I think it might just be easier to get an SVT engine.

And as far as clutch...

Here's a place (http://www.spmotorsports.com/contour.html) that can either sell you the flywheels/clutched, or give you an idea of what you're looking for.

Good luck!

Anything else I'm forgetin?
I'll probably not do pistons and rods..

They make forged rods and pistons for the Cougar 2.5L

Pauter Rods - Check CEG for Group Buy
JE Forged Pistons - $150 each (includes rings and wrist pins)

I would do DMD, The oil pan you already ordered, water pump and definitely transmission work.

Do the 3.0 swap....You can do it for what you will spend on the 2.5......Since it's out and all!!

BTW....The SVT engine has hand picked crank, pistons, rods. But they are the same!!! No stronger, just better castings or better balanced parts!! No gain in doing an SVT internal swap.

I would suggest a set of headers while the engine is out....much easier to install them.

James has some stainless ones available, check them out!

Thanks guys.. for the additional input
Headers will probably not happen. Might pop out the secondary Cat though..
Pan and DMD will happen for sure
New Clutch(need it, but still deciding on which one)
flywheel is a possibility(but not required)
metal impellar waterpump(or electric)
Switching to Green Antifreeze.. wanna know why gaskets fail... Dexcool.. (Primary intake port was perfectly clean while the others were slightly sludged... )
Seriously considering a Accusump and a Quaife..

I'm already looking at a lot of dough.. so I'm keeping it reasonable.. while I have the money to basically do anything to the car..I'm a tightwad..
