So what cars can the Cougar kill exactly? I've read some post over the weekend and was just curious on what cars can we kill.

Depends on how well they're built. I'm sure we couldn't take a Volvo out, but hitting a Civic square on should put it out of commision. Aren't Vettes all fiberglass? I bet we could destroy one of those too!

a v6 cougar should be able to take my escort gt
this should be a good thread...
:drama:
Local ricers. Nothing MTX versus ATX. Don't run any family cars, you'll get your ass handed to you. (Maximas, Grand Prix, etc.)

read my post about racing Grand Am GT. few other car you can kill too. for instance, MTX Cougar can beat ATX cougar!!!!
I drive a 1983 Chevette in the winter......it would be a close race between that and the coug, but i think the coug. would be able to take it.

magoo - by looking at your sig..............the answer would have to be, not much....with a stock intake, exhaust, and an ATX. you won't be doing that much damage. get those and do some engine upgrades......LIM/UIM/TB, chip maybe, headers, etc......there are tons of things you can do.....a chip would be really good because of your transmission but only after you get all the mods you want so you don't have to reflash it. correct me if i'm wrong guys.........i don't have an atx so i don't know, i've just heard that the chip is better for them.

Like Cougarboi said, we have both beaten older Maximas, just dont try it on the new 240HP one. I cant speak for a stock Coug here, but I have pulled on a Grand Prix GT (the non-supercharged one).

hey Furious remember that maxima that we raced going from my house to Mass? it was right after i had my car painted and after the night of flipping burgers at 5 in the morning. It was the 01 or 02 model the guy was like WTF is that a Cougar?? And once I smoked one by about 3 cars racing up to around 100mph it was the 5spd model they are around 15.2 15.3 at 94mph 3.0 222 hp engine
good driver in cougar will give a good race for its money they are tagged around 28K
I will be happy to try the new 3.5l altima when im done with my engine.

Yeah, I remember that. IIRC that was my first '01/'02 Maxima race. I actually couldnt believe we were faster. I mean, they do have ~220HP.

C5 Vettes only have the strongest chassis of any current vehicle aside from the new viper!;)

I know I don't have really any engine mods. I was just curious to see when modded what the Cougar could kill. Like basic intake exhaust whatever u got. What have you killed. I wanna plan for engine mods by saying Ok. Lets say to beat a a(*&^%(* of a friends Mustang I need....you know. To get an idea.

dude...the only way you can tell if you can beat them or not is if you straight up race them.....period
go and have fun and be safe....

I've beaten my friends ATX v6 Mustang and another ones MTX v6 Mustang with just an intake & exhaust. The ATX was easy but my friends MTX was tuff, I kept a about 1/2 a car length ahead of him but I'm sure it would've been closer if not him beating me since he was still kinda new at driving.

With ATX, the biggest thing you can hope to killing, with a good deal of modding, is ATX V6 Mustang, Camaro, Firebird and Grand PRIX. But those will take a good deal of modding. With an MTX and a good bit of mods, you should be able to take all of GMs V6s, ATX or MTX, with the exception of the Supercharged, along with V6 Mustangs.
Hope that helps a little.

Ummm....no. Did I ever say I cared, wrote 2 sentences on the subject. Its a stuiped question. It's like saying, " High, im 5'10" tall and weigh 180lbs, what kind of people can I beat in a fight?" It's a stuiped question with no real answer. Everything is relative to the mods you and the ohter person do or dont have.

a Cougar.... CAN.... beat the following cars in a race if both drivers are near equal in skill
Audi A6 2.7T Quattro 5 speed auto
BMW 530 iA
Jaguar S-Type 3.0L
Maybe a Lincoln LS-V8
Lexus GS 300
Mercedes-Benz E320
the cars I have beaten are as follows:
stock WRX bad driver
WRX [mbc to 16psi, AEM short ram and a GFB bov] twice
5.0 stang
97 prelude with CAI and exhaust, plug wires and stuff
White WRX wagon
CRX with all kinds of stuff done
Civic Si modded
other cougars
many Grand AM and Prix GT's
trail blazer hehe
malibu hehehe
Eclipse GS with AEM short ram, Underdrive pulley, muffler and other stuff
ZX2 S/R and regular ZX2's
1.8T VW I think it was a Jetta but it looked like it only had two doors
and other stuff like SUV's

I've beaten...err..."killed" a BMW 325 with a '95 mystique V6 when i was in Kuwait. That was i think in '97. My mystique was stock and ATX but in Kuwait there aren't any smog regulations so it was without any type of cats. Since the cougar and mystique are cousins i thought i would share this. Only if they sold Cougars in Kuwait
With my Cougar, I've taken on a Grand Prix GTP and lost with one car length so i think a MTX cougar should be able to take it. I've beaten a Ford Ranger, my friends 94 maxima SE, my friends '95 BMW 325 (MTX), and another friends '82 Grand Marquis  ... felt really bad after that one!!

An important factor is how good a driver you are. Anyone can drive fast in a straight line, it's the bends that sort the men from the boys - and kill a few people. Safety before speed all the time.

i really don't think a cougar has a chance in hell vs a a6 2.7t. I drove one with a six speed not a chance would a cougar have to beat this car.

1.8T VW I think it was a Jetta but it looked like it only had two doors
There is one Jetta 2 dr. in this world and it was made by 1552 design. They used parts from a wrecked GTi and parts from the original jetta shell. The power output on the car is highly strong, whipping out a stage 3 turbocharger w/ more than 340+ to the wheels.

really not a chance in hell huh? DO you know how much they weigh????? 3,970lbs that's 1,000lbs more than
a base model MTX. They have been tested to run a 15.0 in the 1/4 usually when racing most people only
race for about 1320ft anyway. I'm just saying I have an MTX cougar my fastest 1/4 time is 15.3 not to good
but there are other cougars in the drag racing area that have run 15.0 and 15.1 almost stock. So there's my proof

see your problem here is you assumed I was possitive that this was a two door Jetta. BUT you didn't read the "I THINK IT WAS
A JETTA" obviously letting everyone know that I'm not familar with VW products and never will be. I happy for 1552 design good for them
YAY for VW:rofl: Ok so lets figure this out cause I'm still not sure what it was and it was a year ago. If it has two doors and a 1.8T
label on the back and it was VW what could it be???? help me out here Se7enCentz cause like I said before I don't know VW
products to well.
Thanks

2 doors 1.8T either a golf or a GTI. Golf GTis were produced in 2000, engine was a 1.8T w/ 150hp. Nowadays theres only gtis 1.8T's w/ 180hp.
There is one (1) Jetta somewhere in the USA w/ 2 drs. 1.8T w/ more than 350hp.
Vw Golfs-2001 and up engine ratings. 4 cyl. w/ 115hp.
Golf TDi- 4 cyl w/90hp
Just clearing things up.
