I need to see some pics of 99-00 cougars with 18" rims at stock height. Also preferably with 225/40/18 size tires. I need to know how my car will look without lowering springs, there is no way to have a car here with gfx and lowering springs, unless you don't mind constantly replacing your front bumper.

Get GC and ride with the back slammed and the front 1/3 down. I live in MI the pothole capital and my SW front was only broken once when I had my Eibach springs on.

Forget springs. Read Caterina's signiture. I sure did and love being able to change ride height.

But on the toic check dv6's webpage and do a search you'll find what you need.

I did a search on dv6 but I can't tell which rims are 17 or 18's, some look kinda similar. And I can't exactly tell which cars are on stock springs and which aren't. Maybe if the site had these details, it might be easier to find. So, I still need some pics please.

If you put 18's on without a drop then we are gonna have to start a 4x4 section in the forums. :banghead:

I know I can't speak for everyone, but I know some of us on here can't afford everything all at once. So, for now, it's just gonna be the rims.

Thanks,
Ika

Then do it the right way and drop it first. Mine has gone through 3 suspensions already. It was dropped the day after i bought the thing.

I don't believe there is a right or wrong way...it's all personal preference.

Thanks,
Ika

Edit: I could still use some pics.

drop it first.. you will be happier driving hte car with a drop and stock rims then rimmed up and original suspension...

you wont know your not on stock rims / tires with a drop...

Just look at a picture of an SUV

look dude, i've practically got a part for every sq/ft on the cougar... one of those things were rims... i had them (18's) and tires sitting in the basement for like... 6 months cause I couldn't afford springs / struts yet...
but i didn't put the rims on because it would look very...very stupid.

Just save what money you're able to man :)
the longer you wait, the happier you will be when it finally gets done.

now excuse me while i sit in a dark corver rocking back and forth repeating that to myself :cover:

I have to agree that it just wont look right with 18's at stock rid height!! Here is a pic of Dev's car at stock ride height but I think they might be 17's but see how it resembles an SUV :cover: (sorry to use your pic Dev it was the first one I found.) His is dropped now and much better!!!!!! http://www.fastcougar.com/forums/attachments/Dev%2Ejpg

go here and you can find a couple of pic of my car with 18" VX-k's on stock height. tire size is 225/40/18 on the front and 235/40/18 on the back. those were the tire sizes when i bought the wheels used. so eventually i will put all 225/40/18's on. and yes i will be lowering my car this summer. click (http://www.dv6cougar.com/CougarPage/CougarPictures/C/Cougar4Life/index.htm)

Cat, do you happen to have a pic of your car back slammed and the front 1/3 down? I believe you all have convinced me on getting GC's. That pic of Dev's car did the trick.

Incase you're still looking for these pics....here's mine....18x8 with 225/40/ZR18...on stock suspension (I can't afford GC just yet and had to get new rims for Baer Brake kit) and mine's a 1999 ATX (I don't think tranny matters, cept it lets you know my car's slow as molasses). And I rub on sharp turns cause of the 8 inch width on the rims...

Well i guess theres something wrong with me cause i dont think 18's on stock height look as bad as you all make it out to be. Yes of course it will look BETTER lowered but i think it looks just fine at stock height and will be doing the same thing this spring. If i lowered my car i wouldnt be able to get in half the parking lots around here let alone my own driveway without scraping my stock bumper and im not going to park my car on the street so it can be an inch lower.

It also depends on the profile tire, If you get a taller profile it appears less "truck" ish.

What exact size tire would do that and not rub?

225/40/18 tires on 18x7 or 18x7.5 rims seem to be very common. Don't forget offset, I think we're right around +42mm

I guess it doesnt look too bad but I just cant stand wheelgap but to each their own.
