View Full Version : How does the window know??
When we use the one touch for the window to go down, how does it know that its all the way down and that the motor should stop?
is there a switch at the bottom so when the window goes all the way down, it hits the switch and the motor stops?
thanks!

that is a little man hiding in your car and he watches and he has a button he pushed when it is all the way down... but i would imagine that is goes for a set amount of time and the motor stops when it can't move any furture since you don't need any sensors in the pass door to add this feature to that door

If I'm not mistaken, the motor has a flywheel that has stoppers, thus stopping it when the window goes low enough or high enough.
BrantlyJ - just 'click' the drivers side window... it will go all the way down by itself. It was standard on all Cougars.

When doing my monthly oiling of the window tracks, it seems that the tracks stop at a point where the center rail meets the end of the track. The window is held by 2 tracks, one on each side. Under the glass is a motor assembly and an arm that has a groove down the middle. When the motor turns one direction, the arm slides back, which would either raise or lower the glass......hell , reading this over doesnt do much for me either......Just pull the door apart and check it out-

so is it possible to have one touch on the passenger window is it just a case of fitting a drivers window switch to the passenger side??

so you need just the relay? or do you need the swtich too?
does anyone know the part number of the relay?

There is nothing different about the switch. They are all the same, just momentary contact switches. There is a module in the door that knows that if you tap it down for a quick instant and let it go, it will automatically go down all the way.
yes, well, does anybody know the answer to my question?

Attached to the window motor is an arm with a groove. It slides that back and forth to know exactly how far up or down it is.
After reading through this thread, I rememberred the one thing I liked about my accident almost 4 years ago. The relay went and when I got it back there was no more, one touch and window rolls all the way down. I didn't like that feature.
