Need FLNECO Beta testers for new cougar site...

Temujin and I have been working on a new site for the Cougar Online Community.

I'd like to get a few beta testers to try out the site and help out with bug reporting. I'd like to keep it a little quiet for now before we allow all of NECO to begin using it. So sssshhhh.

Basically, the site will be a mod database-driven website. It will offer an easy way to find others with certain mods, a place to store your cougar related images and a few other things.

Right now its a "invitation" only, send me your requests through PM -- I need your model year, transmission, engine, and color - you will then be emailed your password and can edit your mods, etc.

We're looking for members with at least 3 mods -- IE... Roush Springs, OMP Strut bar, body kit, etc -- and has pictures they could upload or link to their profile.

Alright guess I'll share some more information.

The site is cougardb.com or cougardatabase.com - keep in mind its not totally done. I have most of the functionality completed, its just the visual aspect I need to tweak.

I've already got a few beta test requests and those people will be allowed to be some of the first to enter their information and test everything out. I just finished the image management pages (which you won't see as a public user).

Not really. Similar yes. dv6cougar = picture store. Cougardb will be good for people to search for people with certain mods, etc. I always found it to be a pain to post: Anyone have SVT uim? Now you can do a search and email/PM them directly. However I had the idea about a year ago. I even posted about it on NECO and was told that fastcougar was doing something similar, so I held off.

yes you can search for UIM... i agree not to be rude to you but it is a copy

do you have any idea on how long i've been working doing this?

i have not said anything to anyone? but i fi was to show you far i've gotten on an unrealesed section of dv6cougar.com i think you'd be surprised at how much ti matches your site!

and a picture store?! how is it a store? and it's always been labeled "Cougar Pictures Database"

i just don't get why you didn't contact me at all?

if you were smart you would have and we could have all done it together and right now you would have 3000+ pictures and not a measle 40

and another thing! MY SITE IS SEARCHABLE BY MODS! and has been for a long time!

I know it's not my place here to post, but I just wanted to say that I don't feel that two different people should be working against each other. Maybe combine forces or something, but from what I've read it kind of looks like a hostile takeover. :( Maybe the two of you can get together and talk - I don't see why two members need to be at odds with each other over something as trivial as this...

I know from experience that a lot of people use DV6 as a place to upload their images, but if you look on the boards, you'll see that in the past few months, many times other members have responded to posts with 'search dv for this', so I know it's well used among at least some of the board members.

I wish both of you luck in the coming months with your projects - but please give credit where credit is due.

it's nuts for you to have done this behind my back knowing my site was there and knowing that it is "The Cougar Picture Database" and is "Searchable by Mods" both of which have been in my sig for a long time... changing from one to the other.... and one of them being there right now

We never did this "behind" your back. We've been working on our site for a while now, and only lately have had time to finish it. I've got IM logs from back in May/June where we were discussing our database design.

Uhm, the site just went beta testing last week, and I'm adding more people slowly. I could easily download all your images and save them on mine, woop di doo. I could also scroll through the forums and download them.

Yes I agree my site is a copy of FastCougar's registry. It is just more advanced and allows for a lot more.

Not sure where and why it was brought up but both of our sites are free. I have no plans on charging users for using it.

Hey settle down... all these sites are meant to be service for NECO members, and CougarDB.com is not just a copy of anything -- Right now, you know what, it looks like a copy, but you are only seeing Phase I of the website, the beta testing phase of foundamental registration features. I am not going to spoil the surprise by telling anybody what future phases and features are, but I'll tell you this.... with two IT professionals and a MBA behind this website, www.CougarDB.com (http://www.CougarDB.com ) is aiming to be a major service to the NECO community. With a fully functional relational database and server-side scripting capabilities, we have no doubt in achieving that goal -- the only thing is how much time we can gather to work on this :)

Doubt us? Just look at a site I have created professionally two years ago: http://admissions.rutgers.edu.

But get back to my real point though, this site is going to be for the service of NECO members.... so I don't see why we have almost an argument brewing here...

a picture store? how is it a store? i'm dying to know.... that's where the price came from. mines just as free to use as yours and already has 3000 pictures.

Sorry i see now where we go off track. When I said picture store i didn't mean a "store" where people can purchase pictures. I meant more of a place where you store pictures. Sorry for the confusion :)
