One of my work trucks went down for good, another blown up motor. she had close to half a million miles on her, I couldnt justify repairing her this time again due to the milage and condition of the body. so I had to get another truck. I traded the cougar in on a 2002 ranger. I needed a work truck more than the car and as much as I would've liked to keep them both I couldnt afford the new cougar and the truck, so the car had to go unfortunatley. (It was a 2002 2.5L MTX sport premium package with a total of 6k miles on it.) the truck now looks kinda funny with the "MTNLION" vanity tags on it. I guess I am still allowed to be a part of the MD Neco even without a newer cougar? I still have my 1984 cougar on the road, the big blue tank with the light up cougar head coach lamps and that big car floating ride.

I too have been seriously looking at new cars and SUV's. My warrg. is up in May and with all my problems over the last 4 yrs. I'm not sure I want to take any more chances on all the little nit picky things that go wrong with our cougars. I've already had two alternators, three sets of brakes, new rotors, new sunroof, two computor chips, new headlight and god knows I'm forgetting alot! Service repair has been great thanks to my brother at Rich Mortons but reliability is a big problem with the 99's for sure. They had a stock 350 Z in silver at the nissan dealership last night... hmmmm! What to do......
Should I trade it in or sell it outright is also my question.

FJ, I had a little ranger pick-up, I loved it! Never gave us a miniutes trouble, pulled a horse trailer with it too.

I haven't had any problems with my 99 besides the battery going up after 80,00 miles...

I haven't had any either except...............body doesn't count. Just cause my frame was shifted 3 inches to the left. Does that count as a problem?

The new Ranger is replacing my old Ranger as she has close to 490k miles on her now and is rather terminal. she was a really good truck, never gave me any trouble except for the 2 motors and rebuilding the tranny once. I think it survived this long due to the line of work that I'm in.

I am going to miss the 02 cougar though.

Were you able to sell it for a profit, or were you forced to take a loss?

Unfortunately I was forced to take 6k$ loss. I could only get 10,500$ on trade in. with the predicament I was in, I was getting it either way so I had to pay the car off before I could even begin dealing on the truck... but dont worry it'll be for sale at Miller Brothers Ford for around 14K$ this week.
