i have a stock 99 CD player in my car. i like the stck look so i don't want to change it really. I am just wondering fi there is any common issue of these not playing well.. i am noticing on the last few tracks of some cd's (cd's are mint condition to the naked eye) that it kinda sounds like it has a background beat a constant beat that you can hear under the music is this common... would cleaning help or do i need ot buy and aftermarket headunit?

There are a couple of threads about this problem, mostly I've heard they don't play burnt cd's well towards the end tracks, but when I had mine I never had a problem. If it's making a noise in the background and still playing the tracks though, sounds like a wiring or speaker problem, though I don't know because I never had the problem. I would just go aftermarket. If you like the stock look, I think our stock stereos are 1 and 1/2 DIN, so you could buy an aftermarket that would fit it and you wouldn't need a dash kit or anything but the harness and antenna adapter.
