Cougar vs Sebring LX

Hey Guys:

My buddy just bought a 01 Sebring LX with a V6 (200hp 192tourque), but he says that it is the LX plus model that has and extra 35 horse and blah blah blah more torque. Is there such thing?

To the real question. I have a 01 Cougar V6 MTX..who would win me or him? O yeah he has a ATX.

I think I would easily because he has an auto and 400 pounds more than me.

Who would win?

Uh no, the LX probably means gold trim and leather seats. Plus other things that will just weigh the car down more. I think youd smoke him.

LOOOLLLLL! Nope what LX is.....is a mystery. Cloth seats, no Gold trim. However you got to understand my friend is a liar through and through, his is always better that yours. And to top it all off he loves Chryslers to death.....Why he like one of the uglyest/heaviest car makers on the planet is beyond me, none of the cars have any style. Even the PT Crusier look GAY!

Depending on your skills and the gearing of the Seabring...it could suprise you. There are a lot of 200hp ATXs out there that can take a MTX Cougar. You have to remember, the gearing on the Cougar is HORRIBLE, so it doesn't even utilize the little power it has properly, put it in a car as heavy as ours and you have a slow car. Gearing is everything. People tend to only focus on power and weight...but gearing is more important. Speed is not as simple as power to weight. If your gearing is horrible, you could have 250hp and weigh 2000lbs...and still be slow.

I had a 99 Dodge Avenger before I got the Cougar (its basically the same things as a Sebring) and the Cougar doesn't feel much faster but it is a little. BTW they were both ATX. You should have a good chance to beat him!

The new sebring is built off the new stratus line, which is the cousin of the eclipse...but the sebring is kind of a different class than the eclipse, so it isnt the same speed or gearing..it is meant for a easier ride...............sooooooo.....u should win no prob......

You will smoke his ass bad. My buddy owns an 01 sebring LX and i can get like 2 car lenghts on him off the line and about 4-5-6 1/4 mile. You WILL win

jaguar - ummm.... just to let you know, a '99 Dodge Avenger weighs in at about 3k, and has a 140 hp 130 ft/lbs inline 4. If you think that it is about as fast as your Coug... something is really wrong with your Coug (besides the ATX!). And the Sebring is not really related to the Avenger... different engine, completly.

I would say you have a good chance, due to weight and the ATX. But, I think it would be rather close. Be careful.

Sorry SquamDuck but you need to learn more about your cars. There are two types of avengers v4 and v6 24 valve 2.5 with about the same hp as the Cougar. And if you take a look at the 99 Sebring coup not the convertible they are the same car with just a few cosmetic differences.
