i heard that front wheel drive cars cant handle high rpms too well, but, how many ppl race or drive their coug hard? and how do you avoid totally screwing up your tranny??

From what I've heard on here, lots of people race their Cougars, and mine seems to handle high rpm's well. Do you have the Duratec V6 or the Zetec I4 engine? Mine is a Duratec, and it moves!!! I haven't had any transmission problem, some people are experiencing problems with it knocking itself out of 3rd gear, my advice is just don't slam it into gear, the high rpm's don't seem to be a problem. The other thing people are doing is changing to a short shifter. This seems to help is you're an avid racer.
Same here, V6 and all I have for performance parts would be an Injen intake, and it seems to handle very well (P.S. - it's also an ATX...)

front wheel drive cars can handle high rpms well, maybe you are getting that mixed up with this "front wheel drive cars can't take turns at high speeds or rpms". cause if you thought about it, what about all those ricers that rack their honda's up to 9000 rpms on a regular basis just to get to 20 mph? their cars still run.
