View Full Version : FL NECO 2nd Anniv. Meet *Poll*

What are everyone's thoughts about the Anniversary meet this year? We'd been leaning towards having it at Sebring for the Capaldi race, but very few people are replying to that thread. I understand the cost is much higher than anyone had anticipated, but we can split it up among everyone who goes.
But if no one really plans on going to that we need to figure out an alternative. There seems to be an interest in Daytona Spring Break Nationals, but that could also be expensive with hotels and all. Last year's party was great, we had over 20 cougs attend, and I really would like to keep the tradition alive...plus I have some big news about CougarBash I wanted to share with as many people as possible and I thought the Anniv. Party would be a good time to do it. We need to know what everyone would like to do because there's no point in scheduling something and no one shows up.
I liked the idea of having it farther south this year (Sebring), but interest seems to be lacking. If everyone wants I could set up in Orlando again, but I don't think its fair to keep doing it here, especially since CougarBash will be here in June (Oh, the date is confirmed by the way, mark your calendars for June 7th...thats all I'm saying for now about that).
Please vote in the poll, or if anyone has another idea do share....

Spring Break in Daytona is not someplace I really want to go to anymore, guess I'm too old for it now.

I vote for something not sooo $$$. Orlando sounds good to me but I wasn't sure becaues some
of you guys live there and you might want to get away from your everyday lives.

I am gonna be at SBN, but i plan on going with a bunch of people I know so I'm not sure a cougar meet would be possible, plus i dont think i'm takin my car over, just my friends van.
I like the orlando idea....

I dont plan on attending either of the events you mentioned, so I said Orlando.....only thing about that is it seems like every meet is in Orlando...so it seems boring or something

I like the idea of something further south...I mean COME ON GUYS...South Florida has really been putting some meets together lately and how hard would it be for us to do something in like Vero Beach or Ft. Pierce...There has to be a decent park around those areas somewhere...I'm back on dialysis getting around osn't as easy as two weeks ago but if you plan something like a day at the park like last year, I'm still going to be able to go...A two day ordeal would be out of my means but whatever you decide, keep south Florida in mind...Even though, I'm in the Tampa Division I think the Southern people deserve this.

im down for whatever... im going to daytona during spring break regardless, if anyone wants to meet up over there thats cool. i missed out on the aniversary meet in orlando last year so if thats where you guys wanna do it again this year then thats fine with me.

If anyone in the south wants to take the reigns with this and find a park or something where we could all park our cougs and have a little party, feel free. Thats all I did for the meet last year, checked out local parks and reserved a date. If it costs anything, everyone that comes can pitch in a few extra dollars. Maybe something in the Palm Beach area, either the third or fourth weekend in march?
Like I said, I'd prefer to have it somewhere besides Orlando, but if no one else can reserve a location, and the majority still wants it here, I guess I'll have to schedule it here again. In order to have it anywhere besides Orlando though, someone else will have to take the initiative in finding a location.
edit: I added a "south" option to the poll

I say we go south Florida. There are just as many places to meet and have a good time as in Orlando. Something fresh is better than the same stale thing! Just my .02!

still kind of new to the FL events, what are the dates of those events?
right now we only have off on Saturday. Have to be at work by 1pm on Sunday. So I would want to vote for a Saturday event.

LOL, I wish I could call out but for the first 6 months I can't miss work or show up late or I'm instantly fired...they are very very strict about that but the benefits are worth it.
If it were on a Sunday I don't have to work till 1:30 so I could come for an hour or so depending on how early it was.

well...i have a NORMAL job that i get sat and sunday off so either is fine...though sat is always better as we dont have to worry about getting home early to go to bed.
i am not going to vote cause i will go anywhere in the state for the party.
orlando is closer, but i really like the idea of a weekend down south and i think it would be cool as long as S. FL members make a good showing...plus i like Fred's idea of a nice cruise down the turnpike with as many cougs as we can getting together at Yeehaw Junction to make the trip!
damn march is getting busy!! Mardi Gras this weekend...NMRA races at bradenton the weekend after, sebring on the 14th then this either the 22 or 29th....WOW!!

I guess there isn't going to be a 2nd Aniv. party. Thats sad guys, really sad.
Nobody from Orlando wants to drive outside the city limits for a meet.
Hardly anyone from Tampa wants to do the same.
South Florida keeps saying 'have it here, have it here' then never suggests where/when.
People keep saying having it at spring break in Daytona, but then noone ever tries to get something together.
Noone anywhere wants to stand up and say "Hey, lets have the 2nd Aniversary party here at this place on this day."
I tried to offer a cool, yet expensive, suggestion but everyone said "It costs too much, its too far away, etc, etc."
If my broke ass can save up enough $ to drive for 8-9 hours to South Florida, stay there for 4-5 days, pay for a full ticket, not to mention an expensive parking pass, then I'm sure you can all split the costs of a couple tickets among yourselves.
I think for future meets, I'll just stay home.

Well, I have been unemployed for a while now..so with my car payment two payments past due, rent, utilities, food, gas and basic necessities.....going to a meet is pretty low on my list when my roommate has been supporting me for almost two months. If I can save up some money, believe me it would be applied to other things right now.

I agree Sunni...I mean the whole idea of the Anniversary party is for us to get together and grill out, play some games, meet people we haven't met face to face, make new friends, talk bad about people behind their backs, make fun of Doug...REMEMBER???...It shouldn't cost us more then maybe a tank of gas and a bag of Doritos or something, to have a sweet party...Last year was great and if someone from the South would step up and find a place to have it we can all put this thing together...Go find a park where we can set up a grill and have a place to park are cars and let's do this thing...Geez.:disgust:...If you can't find something by Friday then I say we go back to the same place in Orlando we had it last year...I will bring a cooler full of drinks and ice.

Hardly anyone from Tampa wants to do the same.
Guido, if you look at the active members here in Tampa......most of us go to Orlando for everything.....Doug, Rob, Jason, Sunni, and Myself......Thats about 5 out of the 7 or 8 or so real active members....... So don't say we don't go outside of Tampa for stuff!
You also have to remember Guido.....Like Sunni said, MOST OF US, have RENT, and basic BILLS (electric, water, etc) to pay, that a real expensive meet is not really feasible.
I think we should do something that isn't gonna cost anyone hardly anything....except for gas, and some food/drinks. I think someone payin maybe $50 TOTAL for food/drinks/gas, is alot better then someone payin $50 for that, in addition to payin whatever the race was.....$70 or $80 I believe.....$120 or so for some people is quite a bit of money.
Why are we all arguing about this......our party is supposed to be a fun time for us all to get together, and just chill.......:grouphug:

yeah...like i said in my above post...i'll go anywhere in the state...that park last year was a lot of fun....so i agree with Fred and Chris and Michelle....lets keep it simple and cheap and more people should be able to make it.
Hell...I'll even step up and say "all of you can sit around making fun of me while i am sitting right there". That should attract a lot of people!!
Just lemme know where and when to be.

I'm also willing to drive wherever, in fact I'll probably be in Sebring for the race next week.
I know a lot of people are probably counting on me to pull something together, but my facility resources are only good where I live, I'm not familiar enough with other areas to coordinate a party out of the blue.
Well, we can't wait forever so if no one else can come up with a different location by friday, then I'll make the arrangements in Orlando. If it turns out that way I apologize for having another event here, but unless someone else takes some initiative like Allen tried to do, then thats what will have to happen. Thank you to everyone that has shared their input so far, please feel free to post any new ideas before friday.

I don't think you have anything to appologize for Murphy...You have gone way beyond the call to try and make things happen for this club...I can't speak for everybody else but I'm sure I am not the only one that feels lucky to have you as our president...I appreciate Allen making an effort to do something south but I honestly feel that the money issue should be a priority when it comes to the anniversary party...With CougarBash coming up in June many people will now start saving their $$$ for it...I know I am...Knowing how much I spent last year I want to be ready and not have to worry about picking things to do and not to do...Long story short...Let's have this thing in Orlando...I'm ready!!!!..My cars not but it's not a show anyway!!!...Hope to see you guys soon...Even Doug...LOL

Def need a date, have a lot of things coming up and now we have to get our alternator fixed and want to do that before the meet but need $$ to do that so not sure what time frame we have to get the cougar driveable....Good news is that while I'm in training for the next few weeks I get off Sat/Sun so the only things stopping us from attending is the alternator.
Anyone know of any good place in Tampa to pick one up? or get one rebuilt? or I think Greg mentioned maybe from a junkyard? Please pm me with some ideas :)
Edit: Ditto PhatCat & Pinhy; It's Great of you Murphy to plan this no matter what date/time/place; I would be happy with meeting up in a parking lot half way between Orlando and Miami if more could make it :)

i agree 100%...Murphy you have been there for us since the beginning....Sebring would have been a great idea and something to really remember, but the $$ just doesnt allow for a lot of people to make it easily. This month has even killed me (mardi gras, NMRA and now 4 tires, an alignment - no comments from Chris, Michelle or Shayne! - and my car insurance). Looks liek i have to become a hermit and nto spend any money for a while too. At least the weather is getting warm enough to just hang out by the pool and work on my tan!!
Love you too fred!
