I have a 2001 cougar and i was wondering how to remove the back bottoms of the seats. I know there is a clip but how do you get it unlatched? Also would it be a good idea to install 6x9 speakers in the rear door panels so that it fit in the speaker hole but was visible from the outside?

For the rear seat, pull up on the front of it and the clip will pop right out.
For the speakers.....um....why??

I don't think 6 x 9's will fit. I think the plates are too big. U need 5x7 or 6x 8. They have the same back plate size, which will fit.

theirs enough rubbing with 6x 8s as it is so stay the hell away from 6 by 9s. I f you want them that bad you can disconnect your rears, and buy those 6 by 9 boxes at BB or CC and wire those speakers to your radio.

yeah but i have some realy nice pioneer 6x9's from my old car that i barely used and i thought it would look sweet bolted to the panel with the speaker exposed. and for the seats.... is the black piece supposed to come up to and how the hell do you make it stay down

sometimes to get the seat to latch again, you have to put all your weight right above the clip and sort of "jump" on it. thats what works for me. it wouldnt hurt to look under there first to make sure its lined up and not bent before doing the jump.

If I remember correctly, you may have to pop out the plastic clips from the floorpan and bend out some tabs or something and it should hold fine.
