Its a 99 2.5l auto with 32k miles on the clock. Black paint, leather interior, dont know what all the options are but its seems to have everything except sunroof, cruise, abs, traction control. This is going to be my daily driver so I dont really plan on modding it. I've also got an 88 honda CRX thats built all to hell but that sits in the garage most of its life these days. Anyone know how the antenna attaches to the roof? Mine is missing, theres just a little hole there with some plastic in it. It would be really nice if the new one just pops into the hole but I know it cant be that easy. Its got the tape player in the dash now but I'm looking to replace it with the stock cd player. I'll check out the classafieds but if you got one let me know. What common problems should I be on the lookout for and I'll be switching to synthetic oil unless you guys yell and say these engines dont like it for some odd reason.

You just screw the antenna in, it is truely that easy :)

Someone on the boards probably is sellnig a stock CD player, go into the Wanted to Buy Section, or For Sale. Ebay will also have one I'm sure, they're not that expensive, might even be able to pick up a 6 disc in dash from a 2001-2002 reasonable, just don't go to the dealer for your stereo, you'll get ripped:)

Welcome to the boards!

I would make sure the old antenna didn't break off in there also. Even if you don't plan modding, this is also a great place to learn about potential problems and how they are solved and general Cougar conversation.

Noooooooo. I swear i'm not modding this car. I've said that about every car i've owned but thing time I mean it. I hope....
To be honest with you, I like the stock feel of this car. Suspension is just about right, not too loose but not too hard either. Power is about right and i'll admit that I'm very impressed with the smoothness of the engine. The remote starter and doors go in next week, I'm sure i'll tint the windows once the weather warms up but that it. I think I'm trying to convince myself here. lol. I built my other car to the point where its not a very comfortable ride anymore. Stiff suspension, loud exhaust, too much power for the close geared tranny. Check out my website and feel free to make honda jokes. QuickHonda.net (http://www.quickhonda.net/)

i agree with 8-ball...nice ENTER sign....i might change the sign and use that as a NECO avatar!!

as for the Antenna....if you have JUST plastic...you have a broken attachment. the base should also have the threaded bolt sticking out...the antennea has the female...so it isnt "as simple as that". but it sounds like you have worse than just that...a pic of the condition might help

welcome!

Welcome........................and I was seeing your antenna has been lost?..If its completely gone and without the boot that the rod screws into, then you will need to order a new one all together.
And to get to the inner connections, you will need to remove the entire over head console where the lights are...I enclosed a pic of it with lights removed.

Yep, the antenna is totally gone, base and all. I got myself a repair cd off ebay yesterday for $7.00 and i'll be ordering myself a new antenna this week. Can anyone point me in the direction of a cheap factory parts supplier. I got lots of connections for honda stuff but none for ford. Feel free to use the enter sign however you guys like.

Welcome!!! ...and if you need to call FPO.com, the guy a lot of us here deal with is named Gary. Then again, he's the only guy who's ever answered the phone when I call, but anyway...That's him. Enjoy NECO and the cougar. Potential problems will be your alternator and fuel pump. Check out the "Problems" section for lots of issues/solutions.
